This board, regularily, has folks asking various question of how to make money quick. The answers are, most often, have a rummage sale, collect cans, clip coupons, etc., etc....however every now and again people will bring up that they use a particular app that earns them a few bucks here and there.

I for one use Ibotta...started it a couple of weeks ago. Nothing more than grocery shopping and if I happen to buy an item on their list, I answer a few short questions, scan in the barcode and my receipt and I "earn" $.50 to $1. Not going to get rich off of it but hey, if we're on this board, we certainly have more time than money.

I was wondering what other apps you folks use. I just read about an app called Endorse which seems like Ibotta. I call it killing two birds with one stone. So...any other apps are there that would be useful in filling up a disney fund?

I use Endorse. Ibotta would not take a clear picture for me.

I use the Swagbucks mobile app to earn extra swagbucks.

Jingit is another one.

If you have an iPhone, Field Agent is really good. We made some good money with that before switching to Android based phones.

Only you know the answer to this question, but if you calculated how much time you spend on these various apps to earn literally pennies (or at most a dollar) at a time, would that time be better spent to take one shift -or even a half day shift - per week (or even one shift per month) at a local store or something? Even after taxes, 10 hours per month would likely be at least 50 dollars after taxes. Maybe not work for your life, and maybe it is easier to "sneak in" an hour or two at random times, but just some food for thought.

Probably not...or at least not for me. I do a variety of things; none of which involve going into a business as an employee. My main source of income is mystery shopping, a holiday craft show business and then I do some of the Apps, ebay, surveys here and there. If I take a "real" job first its beyond HIGHLY UNLIKELY that I could work one shift a month (does anyone who didn't grandfather into it have a shift like that?), second many of these apps involve activities that only take minutes while you are all ready in a store for another reason or are another way to coupon. And I do know what I am talking about as sadly my husband lost his career a few years ago and is now severely underemployed in his field (contract worker, no benefits) and there are sadly many weeks I out earn him with these activities.

That said I have found there are some of these apps that are definitely not worth it to me. For others they might fit into their life just fine. We all need to do what we need to do to make things work out for us.

I tried to find a part time job for over 2 years. No one will hire me for part time. I am over qualified. I would love a job that would work me only 10-15 hours a week! They just don't exist.

As for Endorse, well, I have to grocery shop anyway. I just send a picture of my receipt. And Jingit you do when you are already in the store. As for Field Agent, we used to go out specifically to do them. But we could easily earn $40 going to 3 stores.

If you are good with your iPhone camera/video then gigwalk looks like you could make a small fortune right now.

Tell me about the over qualified bit! I was told that at every mass retailer I applied at in our small town. Needless to say 5 years later I am still unemployed :(

I think I am going to have to look up this field agent app :)

That is what I keep getting too. I was store manager for a restaurant and chose to stay home with my son a few years ago and then had another one. Now I would love a side job to help with my vacation and fun funds but no one will hire me for part time.

Does only an iphone work for field agent ? Because that's what it looks like. I have an Android.

Well that is what we decided to do. We now have our 2 babies (youngest turned 1 last week). When the oldest starts school in a few years I am hoping to find something part time/flexible to be there when they get off of school. Hopefully moving to a new larger city will help us :)

Totally agree with this!

I too, was in the same boat. For the past 11 years I have been in a high tech field. Got laid off a couple years ago. Applied for call center, customer service jobs, you name it. Never got one interview. (I did customer service stuff in high school, but that was over 15 years ago.)

Last week I decided to try my luck with a local temp agency. They saw my resume' and noticed that I used to work in the corporate world, but they never saw me as over qualified. And they saw that I've been unemployed for 1.5 years, but they didn't even bat an eye.

They had me take a few skills test, asked me what days/hours I could work and then started finding temp work for me. Next week I'll be working at 2 companies for a total of 18 hours next week. Pay is $12 per hour. I'll be doing data entry for one company, (I've never done data entry before), and the other company wants me as a 'seat filler.' No joke! They are paying me to sit at a computer, and "look busy". Temp agency told me I could surf the internet, check my e-mail, do whatever I want. As long as I look busy. (If I had done that with my previous employer, I would have been fired! :lmao:

Not sure if the temp work will be this steady, but I'm pretty pleased with the results!

Try out a temp agency, if you have one in your area and see how it works for you. I was even told that if any of the companies I work for, want to make me a job offer for permanent employment, they can do so.

I use Shopkick.... It's easy and doesn't really take any extra time. If you want to you can earn extra kicks by scanning extra things while in the stores, but you don't have to.

I use ShopKicks and Plink. Both are easy to do and take little to no extra time.

What is great about shopkick is that you get 2 kicks per $1 at the Disney Store plus x amount extra for larger purchases. When I knew I was going to WDW for a day I bought a $30 giftcard at the local store and banked 180 kicks. It adds p over time and can be redeemed for gift cards to other places. I plan to do the same thing once I have the money for my AP saved up.

Plink I don't use quite as much because their selection locations doesn't fit my shopping habits. It would if I had more money to buy the things I want to at the places I love (gap, old navy, etc) but for now I get points when I get gas at 7/11. 100 points for $10 and 250 for $25 so it works out. 100 points is equal to $1 of a gift card which they do in $5 increments for most places. (some gift cards may be more points per dollar but the ones I have looked at are 100)

Love these two programs!

I don't want to be "one of those people" :crazy2: and post a referral link but if you want to join one of the programs and want to help a girl out - PM me and I will send you the referral link :flower3: .. Either way, you should check these programs out.

I think many of us who are interested in these sorts of things are SAHMs or working around a job that doesn't easily allow for picking up an extra shift. I do a few survey sites and use the shopping apps as a couponing method because those are things I can do without committing to a work schedule - my youngest is only in school part time, all three kids have activities they need a chauffeur for, and I'm not interested in working on someone else's schedule. If the money was essential, a job would be the more efficient way to get it. But since it isn't, crafting and surveys and couponing is good enough - a way to pad the vacation account a bit without compromising things that are higher priority at this stage of my life.
