Here's our situation...we are arriving in the morning and will take DME to Pop Century. Since we are only coming for a long weekend, we are fine with just carry on bags, plus that saves the bag check fees. We plan to stow our bags with bell services at Pop and then head right to the MK. We will be there very late as we have tickets to MNSSHP that night. I have already determined that Bell Services will close long before we get back for the night, so once the room is ready, we need to get our bags there. I am planning to leave the group and go back and get the bags and put them in our room. I know I can take Disney transportation, but that will take a long time, especially coming back because I have to go from Pop to MK, then take the monorail or boat all the way around to the GF where we are having dinner before the party.

I am wondering if anyone knows about how much it would cost to take a cab, as I might do that at least for the trip from Pop to GF to save time.

Doesn't matter, but more in a moment :)

There will either be a CM or two 'attending' the Luggage Services area, or it will be locked up and a CM from the Front Desk, or a Supervisor/Manager will be able to access the area. Magical Express doesn't deliver luggage to the resorts for flights arriving between 10 PM and 5 AM, and Luggage Assistance doesn't deliver luggage to the rooms from either 11 or midnight until about 6. But your luggage won't be held captive overnight. Besides, there's always the possibility that there will be a room ready for occupancy when you arrive.

Now, for the cab fare. It cost me $19.25 to get from the Contemporary to Pop Century one night. I wasn't paying attention, I don't know if we took the most direct route - but figure somewhere in that range, about $20-$25.

So you're saying that even if the luggage services area is closed up for the night, someone from the front desk will be able (and willing) to access our luggage at possibly 1:00 AM so we can take it ourselves to our room at that hour? That would be great! I really don't want to miss park time in the middle of the day, but I thought short of checking all our luggage so that Magical Express would deliver it, I didn't have a choice.

As far as I know, yes. It's only reasonable. It would be UNreasonable for Disney (or any hotel) to hold a Guest's luggage 'hostage'. You can always confirm this when you check in, but it'd be silly for them to not give you access to your luggage.
