Ok, we are going back to WDW in November. (Dh, me, ds6 and ds1). I asked my dh if he wanted to invite our niece along . (also 6). He said No way. She is a Disney freak and watches the travel video daily.. keeps talking about it. Is it okay to get her a souvenir or is that "rubbing it in"?
I was going to bring her back a souvie, but second guessing myself.

And if yes to the souvie, what should it be? I was thinking mouse ears embroideered with her name?? We are not close, I just know she likes the princesses and loves Cars.

WWYD?

I'd get her a Mr. Potato head. You can stuff a box with however much fits. You can also buy a regular sized Mr. Potato head at home so you don't have to get a potato in the box. Make sure you get arms (rights and lefts) since they hold things and regular Mr. Potato head arms don't. It is something special you can only get at Disney that is fun to play with and will hold up.

I bought minnie mouse flip flops for all my nieces. That way it wasn't a toy and they got something from Walt Disney World.

I'd get her a box of My Little Pony and accessories. It's at the same store in DTD that they do the Potato Heads- Once Upon a Toy Store. You can fill it with all the princess clothes and accessories and a pony for under $20.

Would you normally bring her home a souvenier? If yes than i would think a disney kooky pen (these are hugely popular here with 6 year olds), princess necklace or earrings, or mickey ears bracelets (they are at every cash register!).

I think it would be extra nice to get her a personalized autograph from her favorite character. My dd did this for my sister. Stitch is her fave so my dd had him write sorry I missed you...love stitch.

I was going to suggest the ears with her name embroidered on before I read your whole post. So yes, I agree with you. :goodvibes

I'm not sure they still have them but my DD got a charm bracelet with all the different princesses a couple of years ago that would be cute and she could keep for a long time AND it is small to bring back! You bought the charms separate so you could buy as many or few as you planned to spend. Or one of the glass princess figurines. I always like to bring back something more Disney souveniry than a toy that can be bought elsewhere.

I'd mail her a postcard also from Disney, kids love to get mail.

We got some heat when we went, leaving 2 Dnephs behind... However, DH got all warm and fuzzy in the Magic of WDW that he insisted on bringing ears home for both boys. We bought 6 pairs of ears on that trip! :rolleyes1

I would think a pair of ears OR as PP said, maybe a Mr. Potato Head from DTD. They have those bags to fill with parts for a set price.

I think Dniece might be more upset if you didn't think of her on your trip, but it is solely up to you once you get there. I say don't force the issue, but as you're browsing, you may find a little something that would be special to her.

Good luck! :wizard:

I agree that a small piece of inexpensive jewery (not too kidish) would be great. I would not feel bad taking her something. Unless she knew you were considering taking her that should not be an issue. If you are not close to her, I would agree with DH. Taking a child you are not used to caring for might be difficult.

I think it would be a wonderful gesture!

I think I would skip the mouse ears and get her something she could use more day-to-day.

There's a ton of princess stuff everywhere you look-- how about a T shirt or sweatjacket?

My 6 year old just got the charm necklace-- you can pick the charms (@ about $5 apiece) and it's adorable.

Or you could get her a small purse/ backpack.

We have brought stuff home from Disneyland trips for my niece who is the same age as my DD6 (3 weeks apart). The first time was a little sequined purse shaped like Cinderella's coach and the second time I got her Tinkerbell earrings with her birthstone, just like my girls'. She loved both but her mom says she is a pill about earrings so she hasn't worn the earrings yet which kind of ticked me off. Because I bought them on our May trip and her birthstone is April Diamond, they were all out EVERYWHERE and I had to go to several stores and finally found the last pair on our last day. Didn't want her to feel left out as both of my daughters love theirs!
