Ok, please bear with me as I am a spa "virgin". I've never had a massage, pedicure, facial or anything. I probably won't hit the spa this time either although I am considering maybe a massage (and that ladies night at the spa sure sounds good).

Anyway, on to the question. If I do decide to do some sort of "spa thing" what would I show up wearing? Fully dressed? Bathing suit? Bathrobe? What??? I really don't know what would be appropriate.

Your input is appreciated. Also, anybody have any recommendations for a "first timer"?

You undress as far down as you feel comfortable. If you want to, you can wear your swimsuit. I had the absolute body thing and I undressed down to my underwear. They were very good about keeping me covered when I flipped and all. Plus it was worth every penny!

Sdoane: What did you show up at the spa wearing? I'm guessing you walk in fully clothed then? I know it sounds silly but I really don't know.

I went in my sweats and t-shirt. I basically rolled out of bed for my 8:30 am appointment. I undressed when I was brought to my private room and by myself (other than my mother). We had a couples massage. Which means that we were just in the same room for our massages with each of us having a person.

Yes, you walk in fully dressed. You will then go into the treatment room and the spa therapist will leave the room and tell you to put the towel over you. I wore underwear for my first massage but then wore nothing for my second. I felt really comfortable as they do keep you covered when you flip over.

i flashed everybody in the room when i flipped over, not on purpose of course, i went to ladies nite with my daughter, so we requested the same room, with the 2 massusses, they were very professional, we wore swimsuits in the rainforest but when we got to private room we took off our robes provided by dcl, my daughter wore her bathing suit bottoms, and i went in my birthday suit, but they step out of the room while you get on the table and cover your bottom with the towels they provide then they come in and do your massages, then they step out affter so you can dress again in bathing suits for rainforest room, they give you locker key for clothes, robe to use and basket . they are very profressional and i was not uncomfortable at all, i told them it was also our 1st spa treatments, and i was very comfortable with them.

Take a swimsuit if you do the hydrobath. Unless you're real comfortable sharing your birthday suit with the person who gets you set and shows you how to adjust the nozzles once you're in the tub!

I just wear shorts and a t-shirt unless I am doing a water treatment such as a hydrotherapie bath...in which case I wear a bathing suit. :)

It depends on your selected treatment. The surial bath you would strip completely and put on the robe they provide. You would be suspicious if they asked you to remove all clothing for a manicure.

For a pedicure, show up in shorts. For a facial I always remove my shirt, bra, and shorts, but leave my panties on. For a massage they will instruct you to strip to your level of comfort, I strongly suggest removing everything, you do'nt have anything they haven't seen before, and they are very discreet.

As far as showing up, whatever you already have on is fine, although I wouldn't suggest long pants, capris, or a skirt for a pedicure.
