Our 15-year-old DD is in the phase where every person she encounters *must* know that she has her belly button pierced.

Going out to dinner?

Crop top.

Target run?

Crop top.

Disney World?

TBD.

She has her outfits picked out for our trip in early August and, unsurprisingly, not one of them covers her midriff. She's too old for Mickey Mouse ears and princess costumes. And I don't expect her to dress like a mom, lol. Do teens dress like they're at the mall? It's been a while since our last visit.

The website says "clothing that may be viewed as inappropriate in a family environment" is prohibited, which seems vague and left open to interpretation.

Parents with young ones: Would you be uncomfortable with the example set for your daughter by a girl wearing a belly button ring?

what "example" would she be setting other than that she has a preferred style and has good self esteem/body image. good for her.

it's 2021 not 1951,I have no problem with my kids seeing women and girls dress the way they want to dress.a belly piercing is not inappropriate.

Totally normal for that age. That's how DD14 likes to dress. She's a good kid, so I'm ok with it. She dressed like that in WDW in June. In fact, I'm pretty sure she was trying to get pulled and give an alternative shirt to wear. It was a TikTok thing (not sure if it still is).

Not comfortable with belly ring but it maybe inappropriate in some areas of WDW if wearing exposed clothing.
edit: I noticed that 2 people posted go for it have male names. This is Disney World, not a movie as someone below mentioned. If you as a parent feel comfortable at a lot people looking at your daughter then you can only make the decision….imo.

I’m a mom of two young kids (including a 6YO daughter) - it’s fine with me!

As the mother of 3 girls, 2 of which are teenagers, I assure you that none of this is inappropriate. If you're worried if some dude is getting turned on by the stomach/skin of a minor, then maybe you should cover them head to toe?

I think you have to make the call on if what she's wearing looks appropriate or not. Fashion and expressing yourself is one thing, but that can sometimes go too far. Especially as a teenager. You'll know what's best. Truthfully, sometimes my husband and I are shocked at the things we see people (of all ages) wearing in the parks...

About the only time she might get a bit of flack is if her top is more of a swim suit-ish bikini top style. That might be to close to the no swim wear rule in some areas of the resorts.

When I worked with kids I think the basic rule was a tshirt that exposes the belly button but covered their breasts if their arms were raised was fine.

Honestly there was more worry about shorts that showed the rear end or that came down low across the hips more then a crop top.

But honestly, as long as the bits and bobs are covered then I never worried about my nephews seeing that when they were young.

And just for the record my own opinion is that girls should not be taught to dress as though they are responsible for other people's inability to control their..... eyes. If she is comfortable and you are comfortable then tell her to rock on.

It’s not what I think but what Disney will see what is inappropriate. Moms always have the last say and Mom is wondering what Disney might find inappropriate. The belly ring is not really the issue but how much skin exposure in wanting to show it off As a 15 yo. All this is just my opinion and would you want to risk doing it for a free T shirt as is noted on TikTok.

Crop top showing her belly button ring is perfectly fine. It's those cheeks that hang out of shorts that aren't.

Disney is SELLING numerous crop top styles this year in their parks, both for young girls and women. They obviously have no problem with this trend.

The funniest one I saw at a store in Disneyland and it said "Mom life is the best life." And I just laughed and laughed at the thought that ANY mom would buy that. The shirt had about 12" of fabric on the front.

My teen DDs all dress like this, and my 10 yo would love to if I allowed it. No big deal. The only problem I have is with low cut shirts (constant battle with one of my daughters) and short “booty” shorts (as my daughters call them).
