Applying future discounts

DD just asked me a question, and I'm stumped. Is Aulani like other Disney resorts in that if you have a room reservation and a discount comes out later, you can ask to have the discount applied? Or would she have to cancel and do another reservation?

She and her DH had a fabulous stay last winter, with a 30% discount; but so far there isn't one for their dates ( she knows it's probably still too early). I think they might also look into renting points if the savings were good.

That stinks! We absolutely did the "add the discount" thing for our trip that we just returned from this morning. We booked in August, and our travel agent added the discount in December. Anyone know when did Disney stop doing that?
