Applying for Premier card when we already have the Disney Visa

We got an offer in the mail for the Disney Premier Visa where we can earn a $200 GC if we spend $500 in the first 3 months of opening the account. The thing is that we already have the regular Disney Visa. DH is the account holder, as I am a SAHM, with no real income. So can he apply for this offer as well and get approved? I'm not worried about taking a hit in his credit if we can for sure get the card. I'm not fond of taking a hit in credit if he'll immediately be denied the card because we already have the regular Disney Visa. FWIW: We use our CCs and pay off monthly :-) Thanks for any input! I'm hoping someone out there has tried this and has a definite answer for me, so I don't have to call Visa.

Yes, he can apply. And you can too! If your not worried about the short term drop in your credit rating due to the added total credit open, then go for it. When they approve you, they look at your credit rating and your household income. It doesn't really matter if it is all one person making the money or not.

The only negative is that you would both end up paying the $49 fee. However, a $400 total credit would put you up $300 in year 1. As long as you spend $5000 on gas, groceries, Disney and restaurants on each card per year, the extra 1% pays for the fee. Any more than that and your ahead.

Thank you for the information! The annual fee is waived for the first year, and we'd probably cancel after that. We aren't worried about the hit honestly. We have 3 vehicles paid for, are a year+ into our mortgage and have a pretty good score to begin with. I know opening and closing CCs in a year isn't a great thing for your credit score, but I think we can take the hit for some extra Disney money ;-) Not sure how to do the income section when it asks for an employer. Perhaps I'll try his online and do mine over the phone and see how it goes. It'd be a bonus, so I won't be too upset if I didn't get approved. Of course, I'd love to have a FD pin instead of this offer ;-) lol

Darn it!! I better not get that offer because I just did mine the other day and only got $100, lol!!

Anyway, I did get approved (I have the old visa, too) but for a much lower credit limit so be aware of that!

How long did it take you to receive the card and/or notice that it was approved? I applied online for the Premier card (do not currently have any Disney cards) on Feb 8 and only received an email stating that something would be mailed to me within 30 days. This seems like a long time. I am used to instant approval!

Keep in mind that opening another card will negatively impact your credit score. If you don't need the card, don't bother. A short-term reward isn't worth the long-term potential credit issues.

Now I'm bummed because we upgraded to premiere from the old one, and we didn't get anything for it, even though I point blank asked for the deal I had been emailed:(

DR would say don't do it, J! It is $200 but I think you could make that up elsewhere.

Call and see if they will "flip" your card. I was able to flip ours last year and my old points were flipped as well. If after you try the new card you don't like it they will flip you back and you won't lose your points. I switched in June of last year and was not charged the fee until January. The $49 was worth it to me as it practically doubled my points earning!

Did you follow up by phone?
