i was thinking for applying to "A Wedding Story" and have our wedding featured on the show. now my question is, if i'm reading this right on the website, if i get chosen to be on the show, do i have to pay for the camera crew and all those guys to film everything? thanks in advance to those who respond.

I'm not sure about that but I do have some information...

*supposedly they don't let you know until really close to the date, and for me that is stressful. Then they expect you to do certain events that you "enjoy" before for that intro part of the show.
*the camera crews are not always considerate. My friend went to one that they filmed and said that the guests were treated really bad. She didn't like that they were so pushy.
*they want unconventional couples and often overlook those who haven't had a tragedy or an amazing story.

If you want to, I say go for it... I do feel however that you should also know the information I have.

thank you for your reply, Davids-Coco. i appreciate it greatly. i emailed them to make sure. i will keep your information in mind as well if things turn out the way i hope. thanks again.

My husband and I considered applying for the show, as we are a military couple, and he has been in Korea for the whole year surrounding our wedding and with it being in Disney, that kind of makes the whole thing unique, but we decided not to, beacuse of two reasons:

1. During the most stressful and important days of your life, they are following you around at all hours videotaping EVERYTHING! Including your bridezilla moments, those private moments with family and friends where you all end up cryng, etc. And they expect you to meet thier timetable.

2. You have NO SAY over how they portray you on TV. Flattering, dumb, goofy, happy, thrilled, whatever...It comes out how they want it to.

After seeing the FoodTV show and hearing from Ann and Ken Weaver, the SM they showed, how they twisted what they said and only showed small clips out of context, I am really glad that we decided not to.

I'm not trying to talk you out of it, just trying to give you more info then just the "Fairy Tale Wedding on TV fantasy". Trust me, I had the day dreams about it, but in the end decided it wasn't for us.

If you do decide to do it, I hope that it works out perfectly for you and will look forward to hearing about the experience. Oh, and I can't imagine that they would expect you to cover any of thier expenses and I didn't see anything about that any where on the application.

:sunny: I miss watching this show! I think tlc wedding storys tend to portray the couples a lot more flattering compared to other wedding shows.

From UW, one couple on it Art and Caurie stated:

We found that having "A Wedding Story" with us was not intrusive in the least. In fact, we actually felt as if it made our wedding more intimate. I know that sounds funny, but having them there really forced us to concentrate on each other for three days (the day they arrived to film our couple segment, the rehersal day, and then the wedding day) rather then get too wrapped up in last minute stress about the preperation of the day. For example, I highly doubt we would have taken five hours two days before the wedding to go on a romantic walk and just reflect purely upon our relationship if the show hadn't been there and asked us to (for our couple's activity) When it comes down to "crunch time" - especially when you are having the reception at your own home like we did (my parent's farm) - there are just a million things to do. It was so nice to be pulled aside by the show every once in a while to just stare in eachother's eyes, reflect on our love, and just be "us." I don't know if that makes any sense, but, in a nutshell, we loved our experience. ..having a six person crew with us for three days really did not increase our stress levels at all. The crew does everything possible to minimize instrusion as well...

i got an email today from north/south productions and in the email it says that there is no cost. they also said that the wedding story doesn't make financial contributions to the wedding and don't make any wedding arrangements. so, now i can breathe a sigh of relief and can consider applying to the show for the fun of it.

Tinkerbela,
My husband and I applied to be on "Wedding Story" before we got married last August and even got through the first and second rounds of interviews. It can be a kind of stressful event and we chose to keep it a secret that we applied. That way none of our guests would know and "prepare" in case it did happen. When you apply, if you get through the first couple of interviews, they will then tell you that they won't know until right before your wedding date. In our case, we found out only a week before the wedding that they would not be filming our wedding, due to filming midweek. In the end, we were glad they had not chosen to film us because we were already stressed out enough from moving/traveling/ and the million other things we had to do!!! Anyway, good luck, and hope you get on the show! I just thought I would let you in on how their selection process goes. If you do get through the interviews, you, Disney, and your ceremony officiant will all have to sign wavers. Disney did not have any problems signing the forms.
