Applying for a Target Red Card

Before I apply, I just want to see if there is any advantage to waiting for certain times/situation (other than when I go through the checkout with a mega-purchase! LOL But if I already had it anyway it wouldn't make a difference....) that are best to apply for the Red Card, or is it the same all the time? Basically, are there ever any promotions with this application? I don't think there are, but I figured I'd ask! I've considered it for years but just never done it, as I don't shop there ALL that frequently (we're an hour from the nearest Target) but I do love the store and usually spend $50+ on an average trip (so not a TON of savings most trips). I'm one who takes maximum advantage of my cards with bonuses and promotions and always pays the balance in full every month, so I just want to make sure before I finally get my Red Card!

Thanks!

The only thing I've seen is if you apply through swagbucks, though it's not a lot. And you get the same 5% off whether it's a credit or debit card. I use the debit card because I don't make huge purchases and then I don't have to worry about paying it off!

Thanks, I will look into that. That's kinda what I was wondering about, something like that!

The only concern i could think of is that once you have a redbird card, u will not be able to get a Bluebird card. doesnt seem worth it for the Bluebird card though... redbird it is!

There's also other questions like, debit card/credit card/prepaid card(this one might be discontinued). for 5% at target only, idk if its worth a hard pull on your credit report...

You know you get the same perks and 5% off if you just have a target debit, right? then there is no need for "paying it off"

Yep! But I don't mind paying it off at all, we use CC's for our primary payment almost all the time, so it's no big deal to me to go in and pay it. In fact, I'd prefer it over having it come directly from my checking account. Just a personal preference. :)
