Applying discounts to a Disney booked trip

I plan to book our Disney food and wine trip this month and next month make all of our ADRs. In hopes that free dining would open up into October as it has historically. How much luck have people had in the past when applying discounts to trips already booked direct through Disney? Did it work out they way you initially calculated? TIA

We were booked at CBR last year, then Free Dining came out, we called and they applied the discount no problem! We are already booked for this October, and hope to do the same thing! Good Luck!

It's generally not difficult, but may require a bit of flexibility if the hotel you wanted to stay at is not included in the offer. You might have to change resorts to get the deal.
