Apply a placeholder after booking?

Has anyone ever booked a cruise online and then called DCL at a later date and had a placeholder applied to it?

I‘m gold and have a placeholder to use, but I loathe calling on a busy day. I’d rather book online tomorrow and call later. But if that would mean it would be prevailing rates at the time of the call instead of a straight up applying the 10% off to my reservation, I’ll just suck it up and call tomorrow morning.

From past experience, its not possible. If you have an existing reservation and want to use your placeholder, when you call in they will cancel your current reservation and re-book (at current rates) using the placeholder. There is a chance that your stateroom may also be booked by someone else as they close out the initial reservation.

Thank you.

Nope. I called in advance to try it, but was turned down by both Disney and my travel agent. One of the payments of that 10% discount is the extra work you have to do!

That’s a good way to look at it. I’m hopeful they will eventually update their systems so this can be done online.
I only had to wait about 30 minutes this morning, had a very knowledgeable agent and the price hadn’t risen in the few hours between online booking for today got underway and when I was able to book. So, all in all, it went as well as possible.

How Disney hasn't implemented a way to allow us to apply our placeholders to a new booking is beyond me.

Actually, I'm not surprised considering how antiquated their web based platforms and e-commerce sites are.

I booked a new trip yesterday - October 2021 under the gold early booking. In the evening, I recalled that I had a placeholder to expire June 2021 - I called and very easily DCL applied the placeholder and confirmed a reduced amount for the total cruise price. Without a mention of the expiration.
