Apple TV Question?

I was using my Apple TV today and noticed that the itunes store isn't working. Anytime I go to the itunes store to look for movies, TV shows, or music it has a message that says something like... " The itunes store is currently unavailable please try again later." I haven't used it in a while, but I know this never happened before. I've had it for about a year and a half so it's not under warranty so I am hoping nothing is wrong that I can't fix! Has this happened to anyone who has one?

Don't have Apple TV, but just checked the iTunes store on-line & it seems ok. Can you see the store on your computer?

We've had it since it came out and have never had that issue.

Have you updated the software? Also try to redo the network setting and unplugging the unit and then restarting it. That seems to fix our issues though we haven't had that one.

This might sound completely ridiculous, but how do I update the apple TV software? I'm thinking this must be the issue. I know how to view my apple TV on itunes but I haven't ever seen anything that says "view updates" like it does with an ipod or iphone. Do you update it right from the Apple TV?

A couple of weeks ago a message came on automatically on my apple tv saying there is a firmware update and whether I'd like to download it so I did and now all the menus are completely different and pretty fancy but now there is for sure an option to check for updates from the settings menu. I assume that it must have also been there with the old firmware. So try going into settings and then see if under any of those options there is something that will say 'update software' or 'check for updates'.
