If you use the Apple Pay option at various Disney locations, and you select your Disney Visa as the payment option within Apple Pay, do you automatically receive the various discounts associated with the Visa card? Does the system "know" it's a Disney Visa? Or do you still need to pull out the Disney Visa card to get any discounts?

No discounts at WDW are automatic, they have to be manually applied by the CM.

Thanks for the info! Not a problem to carry the card around too. I was just curious.

Speaking of ApplePay, for those who haven't used it at WDW before, if the CM's are confused or unfamiliar with the process, remind them that they need to activate the Charge tender on their POS before you scan ApplePay.

I used it almost exclusively on my recent trip earlier this month and about 50% of the time, the CM wasn't sure how to use it, or I was confused because it would say "Done." on my phone, but it hadn't actually charged.

Do you still need to show the CM the actual card or would the image of the Disney Visa on your iPhone suffice?

Pretty sure they'll need the card. The fact that the discounts aren't automatic is what kept me from even bothering with Apple Pay.

This seems so silly. Why wouldn't they accept the picture of the card on your phone if you are paying with it? I understand this is a new system/process etc. so I would be this would change.

Because how would they know it's your card from a picture (unless you were to show a picture ID)? Just showing a picture instead of the actual card sounds like it would be too risky with regards to fraud to me.

I'm not talking about just showing any image of a cc like I took a picture of it or something. I'm talking about the image of the card (with the last 4 numbers on it) that is displayed on your phone during the Apple Pay process. You can't just add any images of any cards, they have to be submitted and linked to a bank's system through Apple Pay to get them to show up. The phone then becomes the credit card, and one day, when enough merchants accept digital payments, you won't even need the piece of plastic, just your phone. It has worked great everywhere I've used it, even at some vending machines.

This is what it looks like (not my image, found using the google):
