Hi Guys and Girls,


Im on the lookout for a Apple laptop, was wondering if it was worth heading down to the apple shop in orlando and buy one there, as the exchange rate is so good, Im sure i could buy a U.K mains unit off ebay, so wot do u think good or bad idea? any advice please !!.

We have bought two at various times in the US the last in August, we only use an adaptor plug otherwise they charge ok.

As apples are not widely available at discount rates then it should be easy to compare the us cost including excghange rate with the UK cost. Remember they are way above the import threshold for tax.

I've been thinking the same thing. On a standard MacBook, looking at the US and UK website prices, there looks to be an approximate £150 - £200 saving by buying in the US (that's using a generous $2=£1 conversion). If you take into account possible import duty then maybe the saving isn't so much. I guess you may have local sales tax added too... I don't know how these things work.

I am wondering about buying from the US refurb store online and having it delivered to our villa. I've bought a few things from the UK refurb store (in fact I would probably only buy from the refurb store) and have always been very pleased with the items and the service... not always true when I've bought 'new' from Apple. I'm pretty certain that Apple's warranty is worldwide on hardware though I am going to check that out.
