Appitizer has been removed from Deluxe plan

Just got off the phone with Disney Dining and they informed me that they have now decided to remove the appitizer from the Deluxe Disney Dining plan. So none of the plans will have an appitizer, and none will have tip included.

So looks like I'll be dining off property next trip... The plan has now become a rip-off more than a bargain. The reason you buy a package deal like this is to save money in the long run. Now it has become more expensive for less food. Then they want to tack on 18% tip automatically if you arnt on DDP? Forget it...

And when I asked for why the tip was taken out, the lady goes, "Well lots of people were complaining that they like to leave more, so now everyone has that option." Yeah right lady, I wasn't born yesturday...

Are you sure this isn't just another case of an ill-informed CM? It wouldn't be the first time that information DIS'ers have gotten over the phone from Disney dining was less-than-accurate, and I've personally talked to a couple of Disney dining CMs who didn't seem to have a clue about the deluxe plan.

The official information on the Disney website and in the DxDDP brochure still list the appetizer as included. And I would be very surprised if they made any significant changes to the plan now, when they could have made them much more easily a few months ago, prior to announcing the '08 package terms.

I still don't see how anyone could eat all the food on the Deluxe DDP anyway! That is just way too much food!
I am not worried about the loss of an appy on the DDP this year. I could never eat an Appy, full meal and dessert! Yikes! Way too much food for us!

I still think the DDP is a good bargain. If you order a meal, drink and dessert at CS it is going to run about $10-$12.
Then if you go to a buffet its maybe $27.99 (or more) plus a drink (or is that included? I don't think it is). You are at $40 BEFORE taxes.
Then don't forget a snack - another $4. So you might come out a bit ahead on a buffet day.
If you go to Le Cellier you could easily have a $35-$40 meal for one person before taxes, then your $10 CS and $4 snack - plus taxes.

The DDP is still a good deal to me.

There's no indication, other than the OP's post, that the 2008 Deluxe plan will not include a TS appetizer. I personally would wait until Disney makes an announcement to go with anything but the info in the current brochures - basic DDP, no appetizer; deluxe DDP, appetizer included.

The CM on the phone may not have been clear about which plan the inquiry concerned.

And the only 2008 diners who will have an 18% gratuity tacked on are DDE members (that's DDE, not DDP) and parties of 6 or more. Any party of 5 or less that is not using DDE will not be assessed an automatic gratuity.

The CM was probably describing the DP, not the deluxe DP. Chalk it up to what was asked vs what was answered mix up. Happens all the time, not just with Disney CMs.

No she specifically said that there is no appitizer on either the standard or deluxe plan. When I questioned it further she said that they originally planned to include it with the deluxe but that they have changed it.

I dont know if she was misinformed or what....but that is what she said.

Since we upgraded to the Deluxe a few weeks ago....I guess I better call in the morning. I will post after the call and let everyone know what they say.

In wake of the dining fiasco that has recently been created at WDW.......I called and went over the DDE, DDP and the DxDP with the CM at WDW-DINE a couple of days ago. I was told that there IS an appetizer included for lunch and dinner on the DxDP. This is also stated in the new 2008 Dining brochure.

Indeed: The appetizer is a fundamental featured part of the offering in the 2008 Deluxe Dining Plan brochure, so they won't be removing the appetizer from the Deluxe Dining Plan for 2008.

Just called a minute ago with the booking office from WDW and the nice lady on the telephone told me that the appetizer is NOT removed from the deluxe dining plan.

Who said you have to eat/order everything that's included with the plan?

We have the deluxe plan booked for our next trip. There will be time when we order everything and there will be times when we won't.

The DDP is still a good deal to me.

The problem is not how much food is included in the plan, the problem would be that the DxDP was sold with the inclusion of an appetizer. I never worry about change, I make a choice to purchase or not depending on the value to me. I do worry about making a purchase based on one set of inclusions and then have that change.

I was just reading over the DxDP description on another website and it said that the appetizer was included in the one credit table service meals but NOT included in the two credit table service meals. This doesn't seem right, but.... Can anyone confirm that an appetizer IS included with the signature restaurans on the DxDP????

I am a little confused here, I have the Deluxe plan set for our June/July trip and I was under the impression that the appetizer is included in the plan, which was one of the reasons I chose to upgrade and I thought that there were no limitations on getting an appetizer for any restaurant. So my question is...does the Deluxe have an appetizer and can you order appetizers at 2 credit restaurants? Seems weird to me if they make all of those restrictions.

As I already wrote there is no change in the deluxe plan. I specified my wishes when I called earlier.
Ts for lunch and 2 credit dinner in Narcoossee`s and the lady told me that the appetizer was included.

FYI.....just got off the phone with WDW dining..........I was assured that the deluxe dining includes:
3 TS per day
2 snacks
refillable mug..........also...........

The TS meals DO INCLUDE appetizers, except for breakfast.....and......
Signature meals aslo include the appetizer.

They also said since this is a new dining plan for 2008.....there will be
NO CHANGES or exclusions during the 2008 year!!!!!

I realize everyone is up in the air with with changes on the reg. dining plan and the 18% gratuity.....but I think this rumor may have been started by either someone trying to stir the pot OR someone who misunderstood the CM during a recent inquiry.

According to the official brochure, the appetizers are included in the deluxe plan. I also look at several websites almost every day and there is nothing regarding the appetizer being removed.

I have called WDW several times, and I know for a fact that the CM's sometimes make mistakes or are poorly informed.
