Appetizers instead of cake at Ceremony?

I'm planning a dinner reception at Raglan Road and I plan on trying to get my cake over to Raglan Road so we can have it after dinner. (Still haven't worked out Logistics yet!) But I feel like we need something to nosh on while taking photos.

Can I request a cheese/cracker and/or veggie/dip display at SBP to eat with our Champagne toast and to mingle with for the hour rather than doing the whole cake thing at SBP? Has anyone seen/had this done?

I saw prices of displays here: http://magicalkingdoms.com/ftw/wdw/menus/chilled.html and thought it was a resonable option...

You can sure ask! In the past they have discouraged Escape weddings from making any changes to the cake-cutting (notice they don't call it a reception) that would make it more like a real reception (i.e., with real food), but see what they say.

They will box up your cake for you, and you can even forgo cutting it if you want to save that part for when you get to the restaurant. The new Escape info packet states that they will not transport it to the restaurant for you, but they used to do it for a fee....
