Appetizers for dinner?

I've been looking at menus for dinner, but I find I don't like alot of the entrees and they're rather expensive. Is it tacky to order appetizers as my meal? Does anybody else ever do this?

I don't think it's tacky at all. Appetizers aren't cheap anyways most of the time. I always do this at Sci-Fi. I get an appetizer and a milkshake and it fills me up. My Dad will sometimes get an appetizer and a house salad and that's a full meal for him. Go for it! :thumbsup2

Best thing to do is order whatever you want: even have three appetizers.
I have even had the restaurant make the appetizer into a main meal: I order the Calamari and have the restaurant put it on a pasta dish with marinara sauce. Never had an issue (especially at WDW), in fact one chef even came out to talk to me as he thought about adding this dish to the main menu (unfortunately never happened, as very few people really, really enjoy squid).

Enjoy your meal. :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Thanks so much! I appreciate all the help I and suggestions I can get! We've never been to WDW and can't wait to get there in May!

I do this quite a bit when I am dining with my dd's 11 an 9. They tire of the kids meal offerings but can't eat a full adult meal esp dinner. An couple appetizers with soup or salad even a side of fries is more than enough for the three of us.

We LOVE the chicken skewers at ragland road, 2 orders of them, salad and a side of fries is one of our favorite new meals. We like the ouside dining for a late lunch and perhaps even a Guiness for me.

We do this all the time! We've never limited ourselves to a set of one appetizer, one entree, one dessert. We order what looks interesting, and more likely than not it's the appetizers.

At LeCellier I ordered the caesar salad for my meal to save room for the creme brulee. I think it was an appetizer...I don't fully remember, so I may be wrong.

I do this all the time (not at Disney) but other places because they are generally cheaper and you get tons of food. (NOT LIKE I NEED IT) There is one place that DH and I faithfully go to everytime we go to Myrtle Beach that we ONLY order the appetizers . He gets the Nachos, and I get the cheesy fries and there is enough there to feed 5 people. Drinks and food costs us about 17.00. Can't beat that for 5 people!!!

I also do this. Sometimes something sounds good on the appetizer menu, so I order a salad and then an appetizer as the "entree" Many times the server will recognize this and without prompting ask if I want the appetizer brought out after the salad. If not, I just let them know what I am doing.
