Appetizer ideas

Something new, or at least I've only seen it once.....

Marinated cheese

1/2 c olive oil
1/2 c white wine vinegar
3 tbsp chopped fresh parley
3 tbsp minced green onion
1 tsp sugar
3/4 tsp dried basil
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
2 oz jar diced pimentos, drained
1 block cheddar
1 block cream cheese

Slice some cheddar cheese blocks and some cream cheese into one inch square slices. I bought cracker barrel cheddar cheese. And I put a block of cream cheese in the freezer for a little while to make it easier to slice. I arranged the slices orange white orange white, etc, on a rectangular plate in three rows. I mixed the marinade together and you just pour it over the cheese and serve with your favorite cracker. I used Ritz.

OMG! It was sooo good, and I usually am not that fond of cheese!

Enjoy!:)

FABULOUS and EASY!!!

Brandy-Nut Brie
What could be easier?

Ingredients:
1/4 cup brown sugar 60 mL
1/4 cup pecans or cashews, chopped 60 mL
1 Tbsp. brandy or whisky 15 mL
7 1/2 oz. round Brie cheese 235 g
crackers

Instructions:
Get ready … Stir together sugar, nuts and brandy. Score the top of the cheese and place on an ovenproof platter. Bake at 400 deg.F (200 deg.C) for 4 to 5 minutes, until cheese is softened. Mound sugar mixture over cheese and bake 2 to 3 minutes more until sugar is melted. Serve warm with crackers

*I usually cook in microwave for about 60 seconds. SO fast. If it cools too much to keep it spreading nicely..re microwave for 20 secs.

Yummy.:)

Cheese, crackers, and pepperoni. A big hit. I usually use sharp cheddar cheese and cheddar jack.

Baked Wontons are always impressive and very easy. Put a wonton wrapper in cupcake tins and bake for a few minutes. Can do a day or two ahead and keep in ziploc bag. Then fill with your favorite filling and reheat before serving.

We like sausage and cheese wontons. But you can do anything...buffalo chicken dip, spinach and mushroom dip, taco filling, etc.

^^^We do those & they always go over well.:thumbsup2 My favorite is this:

Go to the butcher & have him slice up some round steak REAL thin. Add shredded cheddar cheese & diced pickled peppers (preferably not a variety that's too hot). Roll up & skewer with a toothpick. Toss them on the grill & baste occasionally with Worcestershire sauce until the meat is fully cooked. :)

Buffalo chicken dip is always a huge hit.

1 block cream cheese

1 cup of blue cheese dressing

1 cup Frank's red hot

1 small chcicken breast...boiled and shredded

Mix it all up and cook for about 40 minutes, Serve with Scoops

Most of the time, I've seen it baked with cheese on top. But, regardless it pretty much gets hammered every time I've ever seen that at a gathering :)

Cocktail sauce
Crab meat or bit size shrimp
Cream cheese
Ritz crackers

Spread cream cheese on pizza pan
Pour cocktail sauce all over
Sprinkle shrimp/crab over sauce

Serve with ritz crackers

Pinwheels

Cream cheese
Shaved ham
Green onions
Tortilla shells

Mince ham, chop up green onions, and mix with cream cheese
Spread evenly over tortilla shells. Roll up shells and slice in 1" pieces.
If you like olives, they are good to add, also.

Jalepeno Boats

Jalepenos (fresh)
Cream cheese
Bacon
Cheddar cheese shredded

Slice peppers lengthwise (wear gloves for steps 1&2)
Scoop out seeds and Veins
Fill with cream cheese, sprinkle with cheddar cheese, wrap in 1/2 slice of bacon, and bake on 350 until bacon browns.

All this stuff sounds mmm mmm good, but with a number of warm & heavy choices I'd also add a platter of cantalope wedges wrapped in thin ribbons of prosciutto ham and drizzled with just a little bit of a nice balsamic vinegar dressing. Cool, light and salty/sweet. YUM!

These are always devoured at parties!

Mini Phyllo shells. Fill with crumbled gingerbread cookies, a chunk of brie cheese, and top with a bit of red pepper jelly. Heat in the oven until warmed through. SO GOOD!!

Another idea I saw on Pinterest was strips of red pepper filled with a fancy-looking dollop of hummus. Use a pastry bag as you would for frosting. They are so elegant and easy, and delicious. It's nice to have something light to offer.

I burned up pinterest with appetizer ideas last night. I don't have enough people for all of the amazing food I'm going to make!

Now thats different! Sounds really tasty. :)

Caprese skewers - fresh mozzarella cubes, cherry or grape tomatoes, and basil on a toothpick. Sprinkle some balsamic vinegar over the dish

This is what I was going to suggest. Making these for our family Christmas party.

I always love this!:thumbsup2

I omitted the extra cheese on top first time I made it and we liked it better. Less cheese almost makes it diet friendly :rotfl2:

Puff Pastry with Brie
