This may sound like a stupid question but bear with me :) I read that you get an appetizer and a dessert included with your entree at a sit down meal. I was wondering if the participating restaraunts limit you to only certain appetizers or desserts if you're on the DDP or if you can choose from any on the menu. I was wondering because in some places they have appetizers that range from $4 to $14 and that's a big difference!!!

i'm not aware of any exclusions anywhere. in fact, you can even use the add-on options and they are available (e.g., "add grilled chicken for $5 additional.")

The vast majority of the restaurants let you order anything that's on the menu. There are a few restaurants that exclude a few items.

Pepper Market limits your dessert to basically a cookie or muffin. Earl Of Sandwich also limits your dessert. Chefs de France excluded the dessert sampler, makes sense since it cost more than twice the price of other desserts. Teppanyahki also has some restrictions. I think the CG also excludes one of the Shushi appetizers.

A more expensive menu item might not cost the restaurant that much more.

Most places you can order anything. I had the canadian cheese selection for my appitizer at Le Celliers for $12.99 and it was GREAT! But for the desserts, if you wanted the Signature Dessert Plate, you had to use 2 of your dessert credits for it (for 2 people). Other then that we had nothing excluded :thumbsup2

It may also depend on your waiter. Last Sept Le Cellier would not let me and my D-I-L order the cheese sampler, unless we used 2 credits for it.

They have stopped allowing the add-ons to be included in the meal. You can still add them you will just be expected to pay cash for them.

Either this depends on the individual restaurant or else it's changed since last week when I was there.

We used add-ons for three meals just last week.

It depends on the restaurant, and maybe even the CM, and what add on. Lobster tail add ons are generally excluded. I'd assume, but aren't sure, that a grilled chicken add on for an entree salad would probably be permitted.

What restaurant and what add ons were you allowed? That kind of information is helpful to others.

The fact that add ons don't have to be included doesn't change the fact that some restaurants and some CMS may include them. I think some restaurants will let you order an add on instead of an appetizer.

What are the restrictions? We are going in Sept....I heard their portions are small, so if we can't order the good stuff( like the 7oz filet) I don't think it would be worth it to us. Thanks. :)

Thanks for the information! So let me get this straight...if we go to Le Cellier and each use a table service credit to eat lunch there but choose the signature dessert plate we have to use an extra table service credit? I don't understand how you would use an extra dessert credit? I thought that appetizer, entree and dessert were all tied into each meal. Do they let you use two dessert credits for one meal? I guess that would mean that you would just not be able to order dessert at one of your table service meals???

Some of the dessert samplers are sized, and priced, for sharing. Some restaurants will only serve that item if 2 or 3 guests order it as their dessert.
I'm not sure if you could pay a surcharge instead.

I think they mean that if two people are eating dinner at lecellier and want the appetizer sampler, the one sampler would count as dessert for both of them at that meal, as opposed to them each being able to order their own dessert. i have read in another post that the cobb salad appetizer at brown derby is the same way: it counts as the appetizer for both diners. not sure what happens to single diners tho.
