Several of my cruise mates on the PC Repo leaving on Sunday have received calls or emails from Disney about gastrointestinal illness hitting the Wonder on their current sailing. The CDC has been notified and it appears they will be there on Sunday to supervise the deep cleaning. I haven't received an email or call, but the copy of the email states only 3% of the passengers have been reported as ill and 0.5% of the crew. So relatively speaking that is very few people.

I believe 3% is the threshold where they need to notify the CDC of an illness onboard.

So if maximum capacity for the wonder is 2,400 at 3% would be 72 passengers if they were to total capacity. Which is probably not.

This was my biggest fear before our April Fantasy cruise. Luckily, all was good. But my sister, BIL and nephew are on the Wonder now! If it were me, I would think about getting off at Key West, and not getting back on. Can you even do that?

No, you can't. Well, you could, but not legally. And there would be a $300 per person fine for doing it.

Just what I like to hear as I can't fall asleep because my flight leaves in less than 8 hours.

Honestly, in my opinion, its the most hygienic time to cruise. They don't let anyone touch anything! The germs are super contained and there are not any community property items like salt and pepper shakers out. Basically, they put everyone in little bubbles. I am a germ-a-phobe and had a brand new baby on the sailing and it was great. It was all super sanitized. They dont deep clean like that in between normal sailings, so I was extra happy!

Wash your hands. Don't put your hands in your mouth.

It truly could not be easier to NOT get Noro. The hands-in-the-mouth thing is the biggest part of it. You can touch whatever you want if you just keep the hands from going inside your mouth.

If you are serving yourself at the buffet, don't get your hands in your mouth. Use your clean utensils, not your fingers.

If you have a nail-biting habit, then wash your hands thoroughly and properly, don't touch doors with your fingers, etc etc.

Two things that amazed me on my last cruise:

The number of men that didn't wash their hands after using the toilet

People refusing to take the wipes on the way into the restaurants. Even when the CM insisted, they argued for about 10 secs, the passenger took one and immediately threw it in the bin. Disgusting. I don't care if they get sick, but there's the likelihood of them making others sick that pi**es me off!

I wouldn't do it. But why can't someone get off the cruise in key west if they wanted to? I know you will get a big fine if you leave your cruise if leaves in the USA and its your first port is in the USA. But the wonder has already been to 2 foreign ports this cruise before going to key west.

Some people have a reason to refuse... I do. The wipes they offered us on our last cruise caused a nasty reaction on my hands. I too quit using them. Certain brands of these wipes have chemicals that are not skin friendly to everyone. At the time period of that cruise I was using dozens of wipes daily for the care of my FIL, (under hospice care). We had to buy particular brands to avoid the harsher chemical agents that are known to cause skin problems. Not all reasons are obvious to the casual observer.

Don't worry we will be fine I'm also on the repo cruise that leaves tomorrow.
DCL will do what it has to and a lot more to get the ship ready. Crew workers will be working longer hours than normal. Wouldn't even be surprised if there will be cleaning companies ready to board tomorrow to help out.

When your cruise starts in a US port (Miami or Port Canaveral), you can't disembark in a different US port - like Key West. You also can't join the cruise in Key West (or another US port) if you "miss the boat" in Florida.

Thanks I forgot about the distant foreign port. Like the Panama Canal cruise you go to a distant foreign port so it's ok. Nassau and castaway cay is too close to qualify

This is so ridiculous. We have illegals pouring across our boarders, but an American citizen can't get off or join the cruise at a different American port? Our government bureaucracy has gotten out of control.
