Apparently, it's the simple things

We are going in January, so still 9 months out.

DD8 wants to make sure she has enough money to play at the resort arcade.

DD5 wants to ride It's a Small World and see some giraffes.

It does put things into perspective and get me to calm down for overplanning.

For my 4 year old, the #1 thing is riding on the monorail, which is easy. He was bummed that last trip we didn't stay in "the cave." Which is what he calls the Contemporary, since the monorail goes through it, apparently like a cave.

If they weren't in bed, I'd ask them for their must-dos. We have a road trip tomorrow, so I'll have to find out.

I'll admit that the mad dash, obsessiveness over TSM is all my husband and I. **blush** We're hyper competitive with each other. The kids have so much else they like doing at DHS that they really don't care about TSM.

My 6 yo DS, who has been to Disney at ages 4 & 5, top list is:

Aquariums at Epcot
Spaceship Earth
POTC
Muppet Movie
Seeing Piglet (CP character breakfast)
Any of the playgrounds (Honey I Shrunk the Kids, Boneyard, etc...)

I remember reading in a guidebook (maybe the Unofficial Guide) years ago that several children were asked after their trips what they liked best about WDW. One of the most common responses was "swimming in the hotel pool".

When our daughters were younger we would stay at the Polynesian to make it easy to get to and from the MK and spend the afternoons at the pool. Those are some of the girls' favorite memories and, now that they are adults, they still like to take the monorail over to the Poly to get lunch or a Dole Whip and sit around remembering those wonderful days and looking forward to more to come.
:thumbsup2

The resort swimming pool was always number one for my son when he was little. We usually just did parks every day to have lots of resort time.
And riding the Disney transportation was always a close second: The monorail and the boats.

We are going for my daughter's 2nd trip - she will be celebrating her 4th bday there. She is clearly like her mom - get as much in as possible exactly as she wants...lol

1) Meet Tinkerbell
2) Meet Rapunzel
3) Sofia cake with ALL the characters
4) Frozen cake with twin princes so both Elsa and Anna have one...OK Em mommy will call Disney and have the story rewritten lol
5) Meet Mulan
6) Meet Pocahontas
7) Meet Jasmine's boyfriend (hahaha this cracks me up)
8) Meet Elsa and Anna
9) Oh Yeah - and its a Small World Boat

She basically wants to meet everyone we did not meet last year...and ok for a boat ride

Am sure you can all see how our trip is going...:rotfl:

"Meet Mickey Mouse and hold his hand."

This is what my 3 1/2 year old nephew wants to do when he gets there.

Aw, so cute! :)

My kids' favorite thing about Disney is the waterparks. If we can't make it to a waterpark, then their favorite part of the day is the hotel pool. They are good sports though and will tour the parks for my husband and I ;)

Same for our 7 year old! :)

The more trips I get to take to WDW,the more I realize that just BEING there is enough!:)

And the Pool IS fun!;):)

I love everyone's answers and lists, they are precious! Treasure them, they are memories that will last forever :goodvibes

I also had one of those pool kids-he learned to swim at WDW. I can clearly remember standing at the side of the pool on more than one occasion pleading with him to get out of the pool so we could make our evening plans. The local Holiday Inn would have been cheaper and not have required an airline ticket, but it just wouldn't have been the same.

My 10 year old son's first and most important request....Mickey waffles for breakfast every morning. Lol. :)

From my 9 year old son:

Watching his sister (age 3) see it all for the first time. "She is magical already, Mom. Can you imagine what she's going to be like THERE!?"

From my 3 year old daughter:

1. Captain Hook
2. The Castle
3. Ariel
4. Dumbo
5. Cinderella
(I have conditioned her to think that Anna and Elsa "might" not happen...even though we DID get FPs.)

From DD 12:
1. Splash Mountain
2. Soarin
3. Popcorn
4. Having a Queen size bed to herself
5. Mainstreet USA

On my daughter's first trip (the spring of first grade), she adored interacting with the characters, getting a piece of Mickey confetti from the MK opening ceremony, and HER FAVORITE - drinking lots of pop at Club Cool. Lol! :)

This has been a breath of fresh air!! For all the negative posts just reading one of these has made my day. I view all of our times at Disney as special memories. That includes the good and not so good. We started our Disney memories many years ago "pre-children", then lived through the trips with one then two then three and finally four children! And now to top it off we are going again in 17 days with our first grandchild for her first visit!!! Making more Disney memories. Her first question was do they have a pool? She doesn't have a clue!!

2yo daughter: Cinderella! Cinderella! (She spun around "yike Cinderella" while saying that)

Ok, that was just stinkin' cute. All of these posts are so true and lovely. I remember DH saying DD loves money and knows exactly what it is used for - this was when she was about 4. So, in front of him, I asked her which she would rather have 10 dimes or 5 quarters and she said 10 dimes! Then I asked her if she had all the money what would she buy...."candy" I rest my case.

For WDW her list (she is now 10.5 - gotta get that .5 in there) would be:

1. BTMRR
2. POTC
3. Club Kool - coke tasting
4. The Big Ball (Epcot)
5. Hoop de Doo Revue (quote: "Mom, I could never get rid of this!")
6. Kali Rapids

She loved CRT and still loves princesses, but was ho-hum on Frozen, I know, I know...we're in the minority! LOL

Have a great day everyone!

If i can do BTMRR more than once, great, but the joy is in being there, rather than at work.

Here here!!!

I am taking two friends with me in June and they just want to ride rides and eat some fun food. However, one of my friends wants to the Wishes Dessert Party or the Pirates and Pals. I can't get into either one. We do have a reservation for the Epcot one, but I'm going to hold onto hope that something becomes available.

It's just my DS14 and myself going this time and here is his list:

RnR
TOT
Eating at T-Rex
Mickey ice cream bar
Not doing RD every day:rotfl2:
Chilling with mom

We are going to Uni for 3 days after our 8 at WDW and the list there is more extensive:scared1:

We will be going for the 5th time in June. At times it seems that we're park commandos. This time, my DD13 and DS 9 want to spend some quality time at the pool at POP. I was shocked but that's all they want! With all of the changes, we've decided to take it easy. We'll have plenty of pool time and some waterpark time. We'll go to the parks and ride what we can and I'm excited about it!

I read Ray Romano's book a while ago (back when Everybody Loves Raymond was in its prime) and I remember a specific part:

He was driving in his car and saw his daughter staring out the window in the backseat. He asked her "what are you thinking about?" She replied: "candy."

Just asked my 6 year old. We are here now. Sorcerers of the magic kingdom, Pirates and getting a pirate sword, Jungle Cruise, and Star tours. He also beemed when he got to be the Beast at Enchanted Tales With Belle's.
