Mel Gibon's new movie. To me it looks great, but I won't be paying to see it, that is for sure.

Making this a public poll is likely to keep some from voting. I haven't decided yet, but I won't base my opinion on Mel's actions. If so, then there would be plenty of other movies I would skip based on how actors conduct themselves off the screen.

I know. I did it on purpose, to see who would put what they believe on record.

I voted maybe because it's possible that I will see it but probably not until it makes it to the dollar movie or DVD. I may never see it. It's just not a big deal. I haven't seen The Passion yet.

I voted no because of his actions - but honestly it does not appeal to me in the least.

not something I'd choose to pay theatre ticket prices to see, but I'll probably see it once it is on dvd.

Mel's actions have nothing to do with my decision. God knows I've seen movies by Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt, and Hugh Grant -- their private lives aren't all that stellar either.

Yes, and certainly your choice, but they didn't prove themselves to be Anti-Semite. Just nutty. ;)

I want to see this movie because it looks interesting. Mel Gibson's personal views aren't going to affect whether or not I want to see a movie. I go to what appeals to me - who cares about big names and personal views.

I will go see it if only to watch the credits since I have friends that worked on the movie. One of them was the expert they flew in to consult about the ancient Mayan culture and language - she can't talk about the movie but she said it will be quite intriguing to watch.

It seems like a cool movie and like others said what he does in his life does not affect my movie choices. For the record my mom and that whole side of the family is Jewish and I still don't care. Let them spout their racial views all they want. They make movies, they are not my friends.

probably won't see it in the theatre though. just no time.

This is so tough. It is a subject I'm passionately interested in...I was SO excited when I first saw the previews (a long time ago.) But, now there is this business with Mel Gibson and his anti-semitism.

I REALLY want to see the movie, but feel almost like my money would be supporting his views. So, I just don't know.

I really wish the media would not report celebrity crap.

I picked other... I'll definately see it... when it comes on HBO.

His or any other celebrities actions don't have much of a bearing on whether I see a movie or not.

I am curious though, has gibson made any other anti-semite remarks? If he hasn't, I for one wouldn't automatically brand him an anti-semite.

No, and that is fair I guess. But I am also of the belief that drunk people say what they really feel as they aren't in control enough to stop themselves.

Good point.

drgnfly30 - where did you get the cool ticker?

Well, I didn't much like his last big opus... And I've never really been a huge fan of his work to begin with.

But I voted that I wouldn't see it based on his actions. Not only the anti-semitic remarks, but the blatant sexist (i.e. sexual and vulgar) comments he hurled at the female officers as well. I don't agree with his ideology and he's publicly stated that much of his income goes to fund his radical religious undertakings.

BTW, how many anti-semitic remarks does someone have to make before they're considered an anti-semite? I've been drunk plenty of times and I've never sexually harassed anyone or hurled the n-word around.

I also don't see Tom Cruise's movies because he skeeves me out, FWIW.

I love history so I'll see it. BTW, I'm one who doesn't live in a glass house.
