Apartment questions

I would like to say this up front (don't tell anyone) but my roommate and I had canopies over our beds during our program and they looked so cute but all they said at us during inspection was 'ya know you're only supposed to have two holes in your walls per roommate and anything should be hung on a cork board and blah blah blah' needless to say that all they did was say something and then that was it. we still passed inspection (luckily it was our last inspection so it didn't matter). What I would say is put one up and then take it down before inspection and then once its over put it back up.

****Disclaimer: I do not condone the breaking of rules. Only when cuteness is involved.....********

AllyCat: That sounds great! Though, those pictures are extremely good and I promise I don't look that good at all. (I'm a fattie :p )

lilmissdisney: Our canopies would be free standing, so there would be no holes in the walls. Thanks for letting us know though!

We had curtains- we got a thin tension rod and hung black curtains up in the windows. It worked just fine : )

Someone said that things that can be seen from the windows, like different colored curtains, would get us in trouble. I don't really mind. A free standing canopy will give me some privacy too.

We never once had an issue. If it's a policy they've changed since May, that's a different matter, but they were allowed when I was there.

A lot of what you can get away with also depends on where your aprtment is. we lived on the first floor and our balcony faced the complex. we got written up about our curtains, our door not being closed all the way, and my roommate had a cloths line on the balcony and after about 4 months they decided to write us up for it. since we got three violations we had to have a meeting with housing, which is on their time, so you have to ask off for work if you're scheduled. Really the meeting wasn't that bad, mostly just annoying that we even had to go for such stupid stuff.

So if for some reason they say what you're doing isn't ok, you're probably not getting termed on the spot. I've heard that people who live in the back of the complex, or have windows/balconies facing the back, or who live on the third floor are able to get away with a little more since they can't see those things as easily when they drive around on their carts.

That's good to know. I'm hoping they have a 4 bedroom on the third floor at Chatham.

Nope, no dark curtains or anything on your balcony. They want it to look completely uniform to everyone. It's really not that bad. Price Management was really nice, in my opinion. I never hung anything on the walls but my roommate did and they didn't say anything to us about it. I wouldn't really stress out about this. It's small potatoes considering you'll BE LIVING AT DISNEY WORLD!!! :D

I have some dark curtains with a white, light blocker, backing. All the outside world would see is white. So I'm guessing that would be alright.

I really wouldn't doubt that you could get away with it. Another thing yall might want to consider is eye shades. Remember, your roommate might not want the windows blocked. at least eye shades wouldn't affect anyone else.
