apartment help?

Greetings,
I'm not sure if this is the right forum, but here goes...
I'm moving to Orlando (for work) for 5 months, Aug-Dec 07. I've been looking at a lot of apartments on line, but I have no idea about neighborhoods (which are safe, etc.).
I'm also looking for something pretty close to the parks (hey, a person can still have fun, right?).
I'd appreciate any suggestions (from people, not automatic apartment response machines).

Of course, if you are an automatic apartment response machine, you're not going to pay listen to me.

Have you thought about maybe renting from someone who does vacation rentals? I know that some of them also rent for extended periods of time (snowbirds, for example). Then you wouldn't have to worry about signing a lease (I don't know if the better apartments would do a month to month lease) or doing deposits for water, electricity, phone, etc since your rate would include utilities.

If you are interested in renting from someone like that, you might want to check out www.windsorhillsrent.com for a condo or townhouse (depending on how much room you need). You can fill out a form for owners to send you a quote. Windsor Hills is new, gated, and has some great amenities. It would make for a great few months!

Orlando is pretty spread out. You want to try to live fairly close to work. Where will you be working? Downtown or a suburb?
