Hi,
After four phone calls and several hours on my cell phone:( I finally got a quote for DLH. I have a question though, is 380.00 a night for concergie level a great deal? Thats for two adults no tickets, or special orders. No suite. Can some one please let me know???? I had to go through so much just to get that quote. 1550.00 for four nights!??????
Please let me know what you think as soon as you can I have three days to say yes or no.

Are you going to use the lounge a lot? I too was going to do Concierge lvl for 7 nights with 1 7 day hopper at about 500-600 more. Me and my Dd stayed CL for 4 nights and did not use it but 1-2 times a day. While I like it I would just order special treats to be in room as a surprise as we found were not in the room/hotel enough to utilize it to the fullest.

no it's not a good deal. and if you want to see the offerings you get visit my blog that has a video and pictures of both paradise pier and the grand hotel. i wanted to add everytime we have stayed concierge we did not act like park commandos and chilled at the resort otherwise it's not worth it to me i should say. But that doesnt mean you shouldn't do it. i happen to love concierge but i also am a DVC owner too. if you dont plan to use it 3 to 4 times a day then it may not be work the extra money and the paradise pier selection of snacks etc is really cool for kids but so much adults.
so i don't get banned for posting links i edited this post. if you click on my profile there is a link to my home page.

When are you going?
If during the four weeks dubbed as "Spring Break", that's a pretty good deal....and if you plan on utilizing the concierge amenities to the max. If you don't answer yes to both, then I would say it's not such a good deal. Let us know what you decide. :)

Just to let you know, we paid $209/night for a pool view concierge level room at DLH in Oct 2007, using a special AP rate. I'm not sure if those rates have come up in the recent past though. We spent 7 nights on that trip and made sure to make the most out of the concierge lounge and we did (made it to most breakfast, some afternoon snack, and most wine and cheese evening). It was a fabulous trip and one of our most relaxing and enjoyable trip yet.

If you give me your dates I can check the online site and give you rates for standard vs concierge (have access with my AP).

January is running $279/night for DLH Con
Feb depends on time you are going but is $279 or $319 except the President's day weekend.

Standard rates to compare are $149 in January
Feb is $149, $159 or $189 except president's day weekend.

As others have said, we really need to know when you're going to give a better answer.

I'm paying $279 for DLH concierge next month (Feb 8-11). That's the ap8 rate, which I've heard has been extended into March. It would totally be worth it if you wanted to go concierge during the time when the ap8 rates apply to get one ap. The upgrade to ap from a 4- or 5-day hopper would certainly be offset by the $400+ difference in hotel costs.

I did LOVE having Conc lvl Privliges I found myself more trying to alter times to use the lounge. Like mornings they open at 6 am serve coffee, juice, milk, cereal, and a few small pasteries. Well i'm up by 5:30am getting ready to head to either a char b-fast, or park, or to the coffee shop Dlh has on site it opens at 6am also. They serve pretty much same offerings, and coffee was also free in the towers lobbies, what I saw for midday was goldfish crackers, pb&j uncrustables, fruit' sodas and such. Wine, and cheese hour, wine, beer, cheese, crackers' some cookies, and I only saw them serve 1 choice of hot app the 2 different nights we stoppen in during that hour, Desert/bedtime snacks were ALWAYS mini mickey krispie treats, a small bite sized choco cake (was not really impressed with this as it was not as rich or chocolate as it appeared), mini eclairs, cookies same offered all day, mini fruit tarts 1 bite sized. The desserts were the same the entire 4 nights. I would do it at the AP rate still may, but reservations honestly said they would order special in room treats instead, and make it more personal and special, but you have to do what you feel is best. While I like CL being handy I like also setting my own surprises up.

OK don't know what happened to my reply but I must be having one of those days!:confused3
New Information:
We will be staying March 2-6th two nights at GC (never been) and two nights at the DLH standard view. It will still be almost 900.00 for the two of us for 4 nights.
Spent a few more hours this morning on the phone, good times.;)
A: They do not use the 30% code for CL you will only receive 10% off.
B: We could not see spending 200+ a night more for my DH and myself for CL
C: The AP8 deal is not used for CL and you will only get a 10% discount???
D: According to res the 30% off code is better than the AP8 deal.

Weird... The AP calendar shows CL as part of the ap rate but it's still gonna be like 289 around there with ap8. Without AP8 it's showing about 400 a night for CL. I too may change and go to GCH for 3 of our nights of our 7 night stay. When I asked the res CM said if I like the full Disney experience I should just stay where I am at the DLH.

We've never stayed at GC and would like to get a balcony to have coffee and watch the world go by. Do all the rooms at GC have balcony's or is that a special level? I know it might be a pain to change hotels but its only my DH and I.:cool1:

BTT

Just want to know how others are doing with the AP8 and 30% off code for pricing? :surfweb:

Just because AP8 rate is available for a particular date does not mean that they still have rooms at that rate. They limit the number of rooms for any given date the same as airlines limit the number of seats for a given flight.
I booked the AP8 rate at the Grand Californian for Feb 7 $289 for a view room just yesterday.

If the standard room rate is $270 at the DLH and $370 at the GC then 30% off is equivalent to $189 and $259.

The AP8 standard room rates are lower $149 and ??? (I forgot the GC rate but I think the price difference is less).

So if the AP8 rate is offered during your vacation, it is worth it, but only if you factor in the potential cost of buying at least one AP (if you don't already have one). If you were going to get a 5 day park hopper the difference to buy the deluxe ap would be $95. So if staying at the DLH, you would need to spend 3 nights to justify getting the AP. Of course, having the AP means less cost on a potential return trip which is an opportunity value. A few "ifs" to consider.

Don't forget though that you will be charged that &$#&@! resort fee either way as it is a separate charge.

Do I make sense? LoL. :dance3:

Your right McCall, but they did have AP8 rooms available, the 30% off was cheeper. You are paying 289.00 a night at GC does that include tax and resort tax? I will be paying 297.00 a night that includes the taxes.:thumbsup2

Every Resort or Hotel has a resort fee I paid $15 a day at the Hyatt That was just for weather you have a car to park or not! No free paper or early entrance either.
