Just renewed and upgraded our APs a month before they expired. When updating my DL profile I saw that the passes have already been upgraded on the AP site. Does this mean we are not blacked out anymore and that our 'new' passes are already activated?

Yes. When you renew, the pass activates when your old pass expired.
