I have booked PP in December with an AP 4 rate. I know I can purchase my AP at the hotel, or before hand. My question is once I get the AP purchased, then what? I have heard references to getting you pic taken, so what does this entail and how much time in my schedule should I allow for this? (Oh yeah and WHERE?????)

Well if you are there on a weekday at opening, it shouldn't take longer than 5-10 minutes. When you walk in the gates, go to the bank of Main Street directly on the right after the tunnel. You will see the AP line forms right out the front door. By looking how many are in line, you can usually guess how long it will take!!

I would purchase AP ahead of time or when you check in that way you don't have to wait in any potential ticket booth lines before entering the gates!! Since you will have EE the whole time for being onsite, you don't have to wait and upgrade later!!

we upgraded our tix to ap's on friday. it took only about 10-15 min and there were only about 3 people in line ahead of us.

the ap place is the bank on mainstreet, just as you enter on the right hand side.

This may be a silly question, but how do I get through the gates if I don't actually have an AP yet just a voucher?

It depends what you have. My friend that upgraded once had a voucher and she had to trade it in at the ticket booths first. Actually, it may be easier to just buy a hopper so you have an actual ticket and then upgrade once in. So if you buy a 4 day hopper at PP, it will be $209 (not sure after price increase this week!) and then you'd pay them $20 at the bank when you go in for the AP.

I have never actually bought one at a hotel, so I can't tell you if they give you a ticket to get in or a voucher. I believe they give you a ticket that's like a hopper, only it says AP on the back and you have to get the actual one after 1 day or you can't get in on it again!

That is how it works if you buy an AP at the gate, I got both mine and my younger son's that way, the older one we upgraded from a 3 day park hopper.

I bought our APs online at the Disneyland site. They sent back an email (to the email address I provided) containing an attachment. The attachment was a file containing the vouchers for APs. I printed them out and it says to present these at the gate to get entrance into the park. It doesn't say on the voucher, but we are then to take the vouchers to the Main St. bank, as others have indicated above. :thumbsup2
