I am not sure which forum to post this in. Feel free to move...

We are heading to the world in 3 weeks, and then again in November. We had planned on just buying APs right at the gate, since I can't see any discount that we would get by getting them in advance. Now, we have decided to get the DDE card as well. I called today, but I have to have the AP in hand, or at least the voucher, in order to purchase the DDE card.

I am wondering if anyone who has ordered their APs online through Disney site and selected Will Call for pick up, are you given a voucher ID number upon checkout that you can use to order the DDE?

I am hesitant to have them shipped to home, because as of today the Planning DVD has not yet arrived and I ordered that over a month ago.

Thanks!!

Hi, You can call for the DDE as soon as you get your AP at WDW. They will have you pick up a TEMPORARY DDE card at EPCOT. We did this last summer and it worked perfectly. I think there may be a few hour span between ordering and pick up time. If you call the DDE # from home they will tell you just what to do! Joan

Thanks for your reply.

I talked to DDE folks. Their office is open M-F 9am-5pm. When you call their office to order the DDE, you can pick up a temporary DDE card after 5:30pm of the day that you call.

We land in Orlando around 4 pm on a Thursday, so by the time we get checked in and pick up APs, it will be well past 5 pm. This means that we would not be able to order DDE until the next morning and then pick up the DDE card until after 5:30pm on Friday. This would mean missing the discount on at least 2 ADRs. I'd like to avoid this if I can. Also, if the CM I order it with is new or having a bad day and it just happens to not go through correctly and is not available when I show up to pick it up (unlikely, but possible), I wouldn't be able to call to get it corrected until Monday (which is our last full day)

I am curious if anyone else knows the answer to my original query: if you order APs online through Disney site and selected Will Call for pick up, are you given the voucher ID number upon checkout that you can use to order the DDE?

Or, another option, can you still get AP vouchers through the Disney store? The closest one to me is an hour away, but I will make the trip if I can confirm ahead of time that I can purchase them there. Then I can order DDE card ahead of time so it is waiting on arrival.

Thanks again!!

Since Disney sold 'The Disney Store', they no longer sell annual passes. :sad1: I believe the largest pass you can get is a 7 day, but I'm not 100% certain. I don't recall seeing the 10 day pass there. :confused3 I am certain though that they do not sell the annual passes any more. Good Luck in working out your delimma and enjoy your trip. :wave2:

I had the same issue, trying to figure out how to buy my AP in WDW and still get DDE... Finally broke down and drove to my local Disney Store. There I bought my very own AP voucher. And the funnest part: I can jump onto the passholder site with it, and check AP discounted rooms!!

Well, yesterday I decided to take the chance and made the drive to the Disney Store in Albany NY. I figured that even if they didn't sell them there, I could get a little mall walking in and shape up a bit. It's been frigid here and feeling like a couch (or computer) potato lately.

As I was walking in, I overheard the CM talking to another customer about how the store was sold to The Children's Place. I groaned and thought I didn't have a prayer. They also had tons of stuff on sale and for a split second before I came to my senses I thought "going out of business?".

I was pleasantly surprised to find that I could buy APs, PAPs or MYW tickets there. Well, technically, you are only buying a card that you have to exchange at the gate for the *real* ticket, but YKWIM. The price was exactly the same of buying them online. I was on cloud 9 with the exception of having to call DH and tell him I just put $1331 on my CC (2 adults, 1 child). My car drove itself home as my brain was happily playing somewhere over central Florida.

an annual pass is?

It seems to me if one person in the family has it and the rest just by park hoppers (unless you use more than 10 days in the park), the family would get the benefit of the DDE and any room discounts. And a 10 park hopper costs less than the annual pass. (I'm a bit confused about this!)

I also just purchased my annual pass (first time) last week at a Disney Store. If you have one around you its good to get it ahead of time. It doesn't activate until you redeem it once on vacation. But you can go online and get into the "passholder" link at disneyworld.com.
