AP vs Buy 2 Get 3 Free Deal

I just want to make sure I'm not missing something before I buy either one.

I'm going to be in Orlando for 10 days over the Thanksgiving week, and was originally planning to get the 'buy 2 get 3 free' ticket to create my own version of a park hopper since Disney is only allowing 1 park a day (for example, go to UO in the morning and then go eat my way around EPCOT in the evening).

Looking into it, a Seasonal AP is only $1 more and doesn't appear to block out the dates of Thanksgiving week. I have additional trips to Disney planned for 5 days in April (as long as the Star Wars rundisney weekend isn't cancelled) and 6 days next October (MK's 50th) that I could use an annual pass during even though I wasn't originally planning to.

Considering none of my dates fall within the Seasonal AP block-out dates and the price, is there any reason to not go with the Seasonal Annual pass? Are you still able to hop between Studios and Islands of Adventure? I feel like there's some catch I'm not seeing.

Consider the cost of parking if you will be staying offsite. Getting a better pass could pay for itself in parking.

I'd only be taking uber there, so no parking needed. :)

Also, resort discounts aren't a factor since I'll always be staying DVC.

oh my gosh, I just bought those tickets and didn't even look at the AP option.. I wonder if I can upgrade them?

You should be able to upgrade them. You will only get credit for a two day ticket, not a five day ticket.

We bought the UT B2G2 promotion that was offered earlier in the summer and used them in July. We upgraded at the hotel (Hard Rock) to Seasonal passes for $10 more and to Preferred for me (to take advantage of the parking/discounts) for $100 more. It was very easy and we saved over $100 from the gate price of the AP's by doing it that way.

Does anyone have the answer to my original question?

What would be the disadvantage to buying a Seasonal Pass vs the 2 day +3 pass? It seems weird that they would be the same price unless there's something I'm missing.

Yeah we were going to do the same thing! I can’t find any negative to it only positive that we will get to go back a couple more times in the next year :) And we just booked cabana bay today because the AP rate came out for our dates

Only potential downside is blackout dates. The UO APs are really a fantastic deal, especially since they open up AP hotel rates.
