AP voucher & MagicBands

We will be arriving at WDW on 8/13. We are staying at the AKL which I understand is a testing "site" for FP+, etc.

I was able to order our MagicBands, as well as add our FP+ selections to each of the bands for our family.

There were a few things I noticed, and one that I wondered if anyone else thought about (if they did and I didn't see it posted previously, forgive me... there have been a lot of posts lately about MagicBands, FP+, etc.)

First a question on the MagicBands....
1.) I am a first time AP holder. I got the voucher card awhile back. I was able to link the voucher to the MagicBands. When I received the card, it was indicated that I needed to go "activate" the voucher to get the actual AP (ticket/card, etc)... Now that it is linked to my MagicBand, do I still need to "activate" the AP? In looking at the site this morning, it said that this MagicBand is active... does that mean that the BAND is active for things like just our hotel room key, or does that mean that the AP is also active? If so, has my AP 1-year countdown already started and I won't get the full 1-year use out of it since our trip doesn't begin for another few weeks.

2.) I was also able to select FP+ on our MagicBands. I never got a letter saying we were a part of a testing group, but we are staying at the AKL and I understand that this is a "testing" hotel. A few weeks ago when I contacted the IPO at the AKL and inquired about the MagicBands and FP+, they sort of gave me a clue without actually mentioning it that we would "probably" have these both available to us for our trip, but at that time noting was for sure.
So for our family, I got an AP (always wanted to say I was an AP holder, plus the discounts we get for the length of time we will be there, it just made sense that I got an AP), and my DH, DS and DD, they got 10-day park hopper tickets. When making our FP+ selections, we all got the 3 FP+ per day, and some of the "bonus" 4th day ones for the MK....(pirates was our "bonus" which it sounds like many have also received)... however, I did notice that on our last day, I was not able to plan FP+ for myself, but I could for my DH, DS, and DD. So does anyone know with an AP is there a limit to the amount of FP+ that one can receive in a certain period of time?

Inquiring minds want to know.... ok, at least my inquiring mind... and maybe others out there are in the same situation as I am and would also like to know.

1) Nobody knows. (But have your photo ID with you and be prepared to have to
go to Guest Relations to "get AP activated," just in case.)

2) Nobody knows.

During these tests, things may or may not be done the way they will be done after roll-out,
so just pay attention as best you can and kindly report back during/after your experience.

#1. Yes to the "you will have to activate the annual pass voucher". It will be active for one year from the date that you activate it at a Guest Relations or ticket booth site. As far as the "Magic Band", it will have the information stored on it (maybe) but will not work for anything (probably) until it is activated when you check in and it gets scanned by the resort or until the actual date that you gave it for your arrival or use (maybe).

FWIW: this whole preplanning and implementation thing is somewhat of a general mess and confusion right now.
