**I originally posted this as a question since I wasn't sure the AP plastic cards we received were actual APs or vouchers. According to the AP center CM I just spoke to these are now being issued as vouchers to be exchanged for new cards when you make your first visit. See update below.

I bought our family their new AP's over the phone this past Saturday and I received them yesterday. They are the plastic cards and when you flip them over they have our names on them and an expiration date of 6/13/2012.

I won't activate them until October so will they give us new cards with the new date on them???

Is this the date you need to activate them by??

That's what I've been told but I'm so hoping I didn't mess up by buying these thinking they'd be inactive until we went.:scared1:

It sounds like you have actual APs, not vouchers to exchange for future APs. APs woudl be active right now. Did you have an existing AP and did you renew it at the renewal price? If so, this was the correct thing for Disney to send.

If you did not currently have APs or they expired prior to 6/13/2011, Disney should have sent you vouchers not APs. You need to call ticketing and see if you can get this cleared up. Best of luck -- Suzanne

I didn't have current Ap's, these were not renewals!! Oh man. I hope they make this right!

Thanks Suzanne for replying!

Just curious - did you submit a photo online? I'm wondering if now that there are no photos, Disneyland has changed something about AP activation or if your case is a fluke!

No I didn't submit a photo. I'm on the phone right now with the AP center. Let you know what happens.

I was on hold for bit while this was researched and the CM on the phone said she learned something new as well. She was surprised that I received the actual plastic cards and that according to her supervisor these were considered vouchers. They would be exchanged for new ones with a new date when we activated them and got our photos taken.

She put a note on the Aps that we had this conversation and that I was told these were vouchers. So I hope this is all true when I get there!

They do have photos now, but on their computers instead of on the card. When you take your cards to the gate when you visit, you'll go onto the AP center at the end of Main Street, so be absolutely sure that you and any other adults you have with you have a state issued ID. There, they will take your picture and print your AP card right there while you wait. You will have an updated expitration date, don't worry! We did the same thing. The reason they took the pictures off (from what I was told) is that it is much easier for the CM's at the gate to see the large picture on their monitor to compare your face to it than the old tiny pics on the cards. There were many incidences of altering cards and fraud in the past, so they did away with that part. I like it!

Oh, thanks for posting your experience! You received plastic cards in the mail as well??

Altering a card would have done absolutely NOTHING for the person altering it, as a big 8x10 of your face always (since '07 at least) popped up on their screen when they scanned your AP.

I bet they just realized that, because of the 8x10 on the screen, that the picture on the card was just a waste of ink and time to put on the card itself.
