I plan to purchase 3 day hoppers then upgrade at the park to an ap. Will the upgrade be the difference between the purchase price of the hopper or the value of the hopper and the ap.

I'm purchasing a 3 day hopper with my red card so it will be slightly discounted.

Value is 315, actual purchase price would be 299.25

I am not totally sure about the answer but if you're purchasing a 3-day hopper at Target I'm not sure how they would know you paid 5% less for it using your RedCard. So I would expect it would be the value in your case.

DLR does not consistently bridge the price of tickets; some folks have reported getting the gate value applied, while others have only gotten what they paid. I think it depends on where you purchased the tickets, but I haven't seen a definitive list in a long while. Personally, I would assume you'll get the price your paid for the ticket and then have to the pay the difference (note: I would use the price without the RED card discount because that's something that Target is giving you - I wouldn't expect the Disney system to know whether the purchaser used a RED card or not, but I would expect them to know what price they sold the tickets to Target and/or what price Target is selling the tickets for). That way, if they do bridge the tickets, you'll end up paying less than expected, which is better than paying more than you expected (which is what can happen if you expect the ticket value to be bridged).

I was there October and bought a 5 day park hopper at LMT club website for about $300. I upgraded to an AP the first day and got credited for the full $350 value thus saving $50 per AP. Also they asked me what day I wanted my magic morning, and printed some ticket voucher to show at turnstile the day I choose as MM.

We just did this for my husband this month. We purchased a discounted 3 day park hopper from LMT, when we upgraded to the AP they gave us the full value of the ticket towards the upgrade ($315), refunded us the $10 we had paid that morning for MaxPass, because he added MaxPass for the year to his AP, and asked us when he wanted to use his magic morning (we declined this as I already had an AP and he didn't want to go in early without me).
