AP Upgrade and adv. FPs

I have a 10Dmyw right now. I want to upgrade to an AP.

We are split stay 1 day on and the rest off.

As I understand it, the 10 Day can make 10 days of advanced FPs (not concerned when at this point, I do understand rolling 60 days etc).

1. BUT the AP can only make 7 day's worth. Is that correct?

2. After I make our FP selections, can I upgrade my ticket and not lose 3 day's worth of FPs?

3. Can I even upgrade these UCT tickets over the phone (I get that I would lose bridging but still would like to know if it's possible).

4. Can I purchase a TiW card over the phone? (If not, I'll be doing #3 at DTD anyway )

5. One of my party is no longer able to join us on the trip so I have an extra 10d myw. CAN I combine it with mine to upgrade mine to an AP?

Since you bought discounted tickets, in order to keep the discount, you would need to wait until you've used the tickets at least once before upgrading them. (I missed your comment about knowing that you would lose the discount if you upgraded over the phone before I posted, but I honestly don't see why you would need to.)

You can't combine two tickets to do an upgrade.

2. You won't lose FPs for days #8-#10. At most, you may not be able to modify them until after you have used days #1-3. *Guests who have canceled onsite stays have maintained their FPs and have been able to modify once they are within the 30-day window.

The reason i'd like to upgrade to an AP before I go is that I'd like to have as much done now while I'm not at Disney and avoid having to go to Guest services at all. It would be
worth losing the bridging savings to have it I. Paid For II. Done.

But not if I lose my FPs Thanks @hiroMYhero for #2... That was the really confusing part.

I do wish they'd allow APs to make 10 days of FPs and I would have just bought an AP right off the bat.

2. Reports are mixed. You may be fine. BUT...
What you could do to make SURE (it's a "safety" workaround) is, before the upgrade, cancel the the two days FP+ that will be easiest to rebook (likely, DAK and Epcot.)
Then, after the first day of FP+ is used, re-book the canceled day, etc.

Based on the other answers, I will wait until I get there. But then my plan would be on arrival day step into a park (might as well bridge) , this would be the
day before I have any FPs since we weren't using a park on arrival day. Then upgrade to an AP and buy my TiW so that I have it for use on the next day, a "real" park day.

I don't wanna cancel AK or EPCOT.

My last three days are AK, Epcot, MK... so I suppose I could cancel all three of them first. That hurts! Come'on Disney! I get you don't want AP holders
to book 365 days, but 10! or 12!

Don't cancel them; just hope for the best.

When I had been experimenting with reassigning tickets, FPs that I had booked for two members in my MDE remained even when I reassigned the tickets to others. There's always the chance you won't lose those last three days of FPs.

I can always experiment again after my trip next month and that is still before you go to SWW. I just won't have an AP to use in my research!
