AP & TIW vs. room + tix discount

I am thinking of removing tickets from our reservation for December, split stay, 4 night Poly CL and 6 night BC CL, and then purchasing APs and getting a TIW card. It seems that based on historical data this may offer us the best savings on the room and dining.

We tried DxDP last year and it was way too much food for us. We prefer sharing a few appetizers and perhaps one entree, and we were overwhelmed by how much food it was.

Before I do this, I just wanted to make sure the numbers add up. We would have 10 park days this trip and plan to BB within a year.

For the three of us, 10-Day PH tix are $1,178.97. Three APs are $1,722, but would cover both trips and may provide a better RO discount. (2nd trip will be 7 nights.) The TIW is another $100, but we are planning to eat mostly TS at CRT, Ohana, Chef Mickey's etc, so I believe the membership would more than pay for itself.

Am I doing crazy Mickey math or does this make the most sense?

Thanks!

I think your Disney math is good. Since you are taking 2 trips in a calendar year it will definitley be cheaper to get APs instead of buying the tickets separately.

I love using the TIW card. We like doing 1 to 2 TS meals a day for the break. We usually split entrees and order appetizers and dessert. I know that you can still buy the DDP if you have APs, but I have never done this.

My only concern for you is theroom discounts. They are consistently offered except during busy blackout periods. But the availability of room type is often limited. With both of your reservations being CL, I'm not sure you will see an AP discount on those rooms, but hopefully you'll get lucky!

Hope this has been helpful!

Very helpful - Thanks!
We may not get any discount with CL stays, but are hopeful that something may pop up given that we are going the first 11 days of December which doesn't seem to be a big demand time for Deluxe resorts. Of course, if it was worth it we could always switch from CL to regular rooms, but we sure would like to give CL a go...

I have never had a problem getting a CL room with the AP discount. I call right when the discount comes out. Hope this helps. :)
