I travel frequently to Florida for work and try to sneak in a few days at WDW while I am there. I usually buy park hopper passes but am considering buying an Annual Pass. Can someone explain how the AP room discounts work? Are there only certain times when they are available? Are they available at all resorts? Can I get quoted an AP rate before I actually purchase the pass? I am looking to go for a week in late April/early May.

THANKS!

You can get a room rate quote and make the reservation without buying the AP first. You only need the AP at check-in.

As for the discount itself....it's impossible to predict when the rates will come out and what resorts will be available. I do know that the AP discounts tend to fill up very fast. Last year's rates for early summer came out in January I believe, ones for the December time frame came out in July. This year, we're still waiting for June AP rates. There is no guarantee that there will be AP discounts for any time frame, although I'd be very surprised if there were none offered. It seems as though the discounts range from 30-40% off rack rate.

I'd suggest watching for the rates to be released and then making reservations as quickly as possible. If you're going to get an AP just for the room discounts, I'd wait until I had the reservation before buying the AP.
