AP Room discount question?

I have 2-3 trips planned over the next year so I think I'm going to be better off buying an AP. Is it pretty likely that I would get room discounts for the following time periods: First week of December 2005, 3rd week of April 2007 and a week sometime in October or November 2007? I tried to check historic trends online, but last year had the Best Rate program so it's hard to base it on that.

Second, what do you generally do since the rates only come out a few months in advance? Do you book at rack rate and adjust later? Can you book through AAA (which is what I do now) and have AAA get you the AP rate if it becomes available? And how do you know (besides coming here to the DIS ) once rates are available? Do you get emails if you have an AP?

This is all pretty new to me, thanks in advance.

I would say it's highly likely you'll be able to get AP room rates. We've done trips in January, February, April, May, July, September, November and December and have always had AP rates at these times.
