If I have a Platinum AP "renewal" in MDE, do I need to stop at a window prior to entering the park to activate it? Or can I go straight to the gate and get in with my band or card?

Renewals just keep rolling. Nothing to activate so no need to stop by a booth

I'm gonna complicate this and say that if you're a DVC member or if you renewed over the phone there's a good chance you have a renewal certificate and need to come see somebody like me.

However, if you're not DVC and you renewed online, you can probably go right on in.

Another renewal question...last year I upgraded my park hopper with water parks to an AP. I want to renew my AP at the end of this month, but do not want the water park option. Can I still renew or do I have to do a new purchase? :)

You can upgrade/downgrade to any level of pass you are entitled to during the renewal window and keep the renewal savings.

Thank you for that extra information. I am not a DVC member or Florida Resident, so I did not qualify for any of those special passes where I need to show membership or ID again. I did upgrade online, and this is what I currently see in MDE:

Am I still good to go straight to the gate?

Thanks! I debated on whether to renew or wait until we are back for Xmas/NYE and upgrade tickets again, but my brother and his family are moving to Tampa at the end of the month, so I will be down that way quite often! :yay:

One small caveat to the above...my son is special needs and does not use his finger...everytime we renew we have to go to the guest services window (outside the park) and have that note put onto his account and then go back thru the gates and show his id. Not a huge issue...

Should be fine!
Great, thank you! Glad my plan to RD TSMM can still work without waiting in a different line!

Thank you for that information. May I also say your signature "AP since '92" is very impressive! I am since '16 LOL

The passholder card I got May of 2016 has a date on the back 2016-2017. I have to show this card to get my discounts. I'm guessing I have to stop at guest services or a ticket booth and get a new card next time I'm there. Is that correct?

Hmm that is a great point. I just checked my card and I see it says that as well. I guess I will just stop by guest services when I have free time during the day.

I"m going to throw 1 more wrinkle. You won't need to activate but check your card. If the CM wrote your expiration date OR the card has the year range you will want to get a replacement card but you don't need to activate anything so do it when you need to and don't rush.

protip: nobody uses the new ticket office in MK under where muppets performs but at ticketbooth might be faster. I don't care what anyone says about scanning a magicband, it's faster to just show the card, especially when dealing with parking.

It does have "2016 - 2017" printed on it. I will have to stop by when I am in MK. I may also be upgrading another persons ticket to an AP this trip so that would be a great time to get my new card :)

They aren't handing out newer ones yet, but when you go to visit in 2018 or if you read here that the card has changed, it might be a good time :)

Good to know, thank you! I will wait patiently for my new card and still upgrade my sisters ticket at the new office no one uses. No lines are always nice :)

don't pass up a no line ticket booth though :) there is always that 1 moment of the day there is an exception to no line, like when people discover there is a party or something and need a ticket.
