I've search thru the boards and can't find an answer about renewing my AP and hope someone here can offer some insight into what I could/should do!

Here's the situation. DH and I both have AP. This was our first year having one. (I know we need only one for room discounts.)

Our AP's expire two days into our next trip. This past year I spent 22 days at WDW plus the 2 that will fall during our next vacation. DH spent 16 days plus 2 upcoming. Next trip will be for 6 days. Can't say for sure how many days we'll go next year but would imagine at least 12 days beyond trip already planned.(That would be 16 total.) But DH may not do that many more.

What is considered the break even point for AP renewal?

Planning next possible trip for Dec. Would you go ahead and renew now (which would cover the 4 days from this trip plus the next? Or would you buy 4 day PH to finish out the next trip and then get a new AP in Dec?

It's all about getting the best deal..

I think I've over thought it so much that my brain can't work out the details anymore.:rotfl:

All opinions are welcome!!!!:thumbsup2

Given the number of days that you spent at Disney last year and the number projected for this year, IMHO - renew the annual pass. You project 16 days for you, maybe less for DH. It is not so much the days as it is 2 or more trips. For 10 days per year taken in a single trip, the park hopper is cheaper ($230.04+$47.93 = $277.97); it is still cheaper for 11 days ($277.97+$71.36 = $349.33, no PH on 11th day). For one 12 day trip, even without PH for 2 days ($277.97 +$140.58 = $418.55), you esentially break even on annual pass renewal ($419.61). However, 2 six day trips with PH costs $538.90 (2 x $269.45).
From your trip counter, your annual pass renewal comes due near the end of September; so for $419.61 all passes are paid until appoximately 9/29/08. To pay for 4 days wih PH and buy a new annual pass in Dec. would cost $725.27 ($215.13 + $47.93 + $462.21); this would give you until Dec. 08. So, unless you are planning multiple trips in October - November, 2008 - and never go again for over a year, renew the annual passes.
At least this is my humble opinion.

IT MAKES ALOT MORE SENSE TO ME NOW.

KSBelle,
You are most welcome.

and
PS. I was a math major and now a recently retired math prof.!

That is an excellent analysis--I hadn't reflected on the difference multiple trips v. single trips would have on the analysis, but it does make a lot of sense that it does!
