AP renewal upgrade question

I am a FL resident & currently have the Silver pass. I am contemplating upgrading to the Gold for a year because of the photopass. We have Mom's birthday trip planned in January & I'm doing the Star Wars 10K in April so I figure there will be a lot of fun pictures (plus any other times I am there).

My question is does photopass mean I can get any pictures that are taken with any of the Disney photographers any time I am there or is it just the pictures that are taken on the rides? We've never done picture packages or anything so I wasn't sure what it included exactly. TIA
