AP renewal question

Renewals don't need to be activated. Only new AP's have to be activated. There's no stopping point in an AP renewal so there's no need to activate it, it just rolls over to another year and you're good to go
Okay that's what I thought till I read the above. Haven't had APs in a long time. Thanks, I'm good then to renew and get 13 months:)

There I some cases it does. Some Dvc passes is one of them.

I honestly don't know if you just get the 13 month if you renew online. I think it needs a cast member to set the extra month and needs to be renewed in person.

I'd call and ask if someone like @ravenclawtrekkie doesnt chime in.

To add to robo, I think in the case of renewals you need to activate it by jan 3rd as it's guest relations/ticket booth that adds the extra month to the expiration. Only new passes puchased in the window have 18 months to activate them.. @ravenclawtrekkie might be able to offer insight if that is accurate.

Do the math, I'm not sure renewing is going to save you money if you can't get that 13th month. It might be better to buy a new AP before jan 3, but not activate it until your april trip and then you'll get a may 2018 renewal date. You can buy an AP even if you have an AP. there's a few months there that I think is more than 15% of the cost that your never going to use it. at least with a may 2018 you might get more use out of it.
this is what I was told by ticketing when I renewed mine early. Since our arrival date is 1/2 this works!

You do no to have to go to a booth to renew. Once you do it online, you're set and don't need to do anything.

If you already have a yellow AP card, you don't need to go get a new card either.

Again, you can renew online and be fine. My group has DVC and Florida Residents, all of us renewed online in October and not a single person visited guest services between renewing online and their first park entrance upon renewing.

All of us received the 13 months. It even says that in the dropdown on the renewal site - 13 month renewal and the pass type. Only certain types are eligible though.

@Accident - can you please slow your roll on answering questions like these? I know you like to be helpful, but you also continuously put incorrect information out there.

He's not wrong though. Some DVC passes do get renewed to certificates, which have to be turned into active passes before they work. :confused3 I have yet to figure out the pattern as to which online DVC renewals are automatically active and which aren't and I've been dealing with them for going on two years.

Mine doesn't have any dates on it. Are your dates done in magic marker or actually printed? My sister just went last week and had renewals and did not get new yellow cards, they said just continue to use the ones you have. Same with my parents last April.

It is printed in the same style ink that the unique card id is. My daughter had to get a replacement card and I just checked hers and it says 2016-2017 in the same corner.

You're right duh, I just looked. I guess I was thinking it was magic marker because my sister said they handed her a magic marker to just cross out those dates and put new ones.

From what I have read, They extended the "purchase by" date to Oct. for the 13 month promo.
But did not see confirmation of an extension on the renewal date for the promo? Can someone confirm that? It would work perfectly for me.... mine expires 3-17 and we are possibly planning an April 2018 trip.
Also .... with the new extension to Oct, for the new APs purchased .... do you still have to activate the voucher within 18 months of purchase? So If I waited till Sept 2017 to purchase, I'd have till like Feb 2019 to activate??
