We purchased APs last Aug. before becoming DVC members. We will be going in Aug. (first trip with our own points) and will need to renew our APs. Will we be able to get the DVC renewal rate if the original APs were not at DVC price. Also, do you have to do anything in advance for the renewal or do you just go to the windows outside the park and renew there.

I'm mostly sure you just do the AP renewal at the DVC price
(Considering there is a DVC tourist Charter Annual pass category (for WDW Annual pass Charter members that later became DVC members)

If you have (or want) a premium annual pass, you may want to save $10 (before the inevitable 2014 prie increases) and buy the current special deal vouchers:
DVC just announced.....that members may receive discounts on 3 different Annual Passes. These discounts will be available for purchase Feb. 6- Apr. 30 of this year. They are as follows:

Disney World Premium Annual Pass- DVC member price $484 (Savings of $245)
Disneyland Deluxe Pass- DVC member price $429 (Savings of $70)
Disney Premier Pass- DVC member price $849 (Savings of $130)

These Annual Passes will not activate until the first day of pick up in the Parks with the exception of the Premier Pass. The Premier Pass will activate the day you purchase it which means you have exactly 12 months of use available beginning from the exact date of purchase.

You can buy DVC discounted Annual Passes at any guest relations (in or out of a park water park or DTD)...you do need your blue DVC member card, and all adults need ID's with the same address as the DVC member.

I could be wrong, but you should be able to renew at DVC prices. You don't have to do anything before you renew. There is a new "perk" being offered to DVC members for PAPs if your family likes to go to the water parks and Disney Quest.
