AP renewal price break question

I asked this question before and thought I understood, but now after getting the mail today I'm confused. I hope someone can help me.

I received my renewal letter for my ap from Disney. It says I have to renew by the anniversary date to get the reduced rate for renewal which is June 11th. I thought I understood that there is a grace period of 30 days after the anniversary date. I also received the same information from a CM from CRO that there is 30 days after to get the reduced rate for the ap renewal.

Does anyone know for sure?

Yes, there is up to a 30-day "grace period",
BUT if you renew, your new AP will be activated RETROACTIVELY to the end-date of the former AP.

So... if you intend to visit within a short period of time of the renewal, that could be an OK deal.

But, if you'd like to come back at a much later date, it might make sense not to "renew" based on the previous anniversary date, but buy a NEW AP that would start "ticking" from the date that you returned to WDW for that vacation, and would be good for a full year after THAT later date.

It would cost a bit more than the renewal deal, but it would allow for a longer active period.

Just "do the math" and see what you think.

Thanks. Yes, I did understand that it would end on the old anniversary date. Since we won't be going back for a long time except possibly in Dec of this year, I'll take the price break. I know summer of 2007 is out for sure.

I'm trying to wait as long as possible to renew because of how expensive airfares are for December and the economy lines haven't released any flights for Christmas time yet. If the fares are too high, we won't go in December and it won't make sense to have an AP for my ticket. As the days tick away to our trip, I'm getting very nervous.

The information that Disney sent out is very misleading so I was just checking.

Thank you very much for your help. :goodvibes
