So the time has come for us to renew our SoCal AP and to ask our annual question to make sure policy hasn't changed. We're planning on renewing in person on a Saturday which is a blackout date for our pass. In years pass, they would give us day passes to enter the park since we renewed on a blackout date. I just want to make sure this hasn't changed. Has anybody been to the park recently and renewed on a blackout date and confirm that they gave you a day pass?

We're also thinking of adding MaxPass when we renew too. It definitely is much easier than me walking all over the park to get the fast passes and since we also get photo passes, that's a nice little extra.

No first hand experience, but I do feel like I have read recent accounts of this continuing to work. As far as the MaxPass goes, my understanding is that even if you do add it during renewal, it will not activate until your new pass year starts, so if you are visiting before your current pass expires you will still have to pay $10 per person for that day.

ETA: Yeah, I saw a comment from late July when someone was able to renew at the ticket booth and received a blackout pass for the day. That's as recent as I have seen.

Thanks for the info. I guess not too many people are doing this nowadays for this topic to be relevant... :confused3

I used to do it every year until I decided to upgrade to Signature. So my most recent experience is that August 2016 it worked.

It is most defiantly easier than walking to each of the FP machines.
