We’ll be going into our 3rd year as passholders, and recently this year added the newly turned 3 yr old. The issue is that he turned 3 right around the renewal time of our passes, so I just purchased one for him and added his new one to the batch. The problem is that the first time we visited after purchasing his pass was almost a month later so his pass “expires” a good 3 weeks after ours.

This wouldn’t be a thing, but I’m planning on upgrading our passes to the next tier level at the next renewal cycle (specifically to gain park entrance during a time of year that our current passes are blocked out). Since he’s off renewal dates from us what should I do? If I renew his ticket within the 60 day window it won’t activate as the upgraded pass until after his renewal date correct?

You should be able to upgrade his ticket to the next tier when you renew yours. The downside is that you would have to pay the price difference of the tiers for the entire year no matter how much time he has left on his current pass.

You are correct about the renewal date. You would either need to book your trip after his renewal date, or instead of doing his as a renewal buy a new pass of the correct pass type and activate it when you need it.

If there is any way to postpone your trip the additional three weeks so that all three passes can be a simple upgraded renewal, that will be the easiest option of all. You would need to do the math and see whether paying for an extra upgrade you aren’t able to take full advantage of is cheaper than buying a new pass outright.
