Wow for an AP holder I sure am clueless! :rotfl2:

I have a few questions that I hope some of you ccould help me out with..and please excuse me because I know these questions have probably been asked a million times, but I'm too lazy to look :rotfl:

-When does an AP expire. The day you first used it or the day you purchased it?

-How do you renew your membership. Does it have to be in the park? And do you pay what you paid before or what you paid when you first joined?

-AP prices on hotel rooms come out how far in advance?

-I have another question that I have to give background to before it can be asked. basically I am trying to plan an anniversary trip during Labor Day weekend (since that is the only time DH can go). Preferably would love to try GCH and use AP rates if available. I know last year for our mini Honeymoon we used our AP tickets for the first time on Sept. 6. This year we will be arriving Saturday Sept. 3 through the 5th (very short stay). Will they still take my AP even though it is so close to expiring?

Any and all help would be appreciated.

You AP expires 1 year from the first day you used it. I think it actually says on the AP what day it is good until.

You will get a letter about 1 1/2 months before your expiration. You can renew by mail or at the park. But renewing by mail will usually save you $20. You will have to pay the going rate for your chosen AP. And they usually go up around the first of the year. So you will most likely be paying more when you renew.

The great AP rates only come out about a month, 2 at the most, ahead of time. You can reserve a room now and save about 10%. But the really good rates won't come out until later, if at all. I haven't seen any of the really low rates since the 50th celebration kicked off.

You should be fine using your existing AP, but it all depends on what AP you have. You might be faced with black out days, unless you have a Premium AP. If you choose to renew, do it early, then you'll get your new pass before the trip. If you did mail in a renewal, but have't gotten the new cards yet, they might have deactivated your current APs if they have already processed your payment. No problem, just go to Guest Services and they will look up your payment then issue you passes to use for that trip.

I checked AP rates for Paradise Pier Hotel, and from August 28-September 30, they're going for $89 Sun-Thu, and $119 Fri-Sat, plus taxes & resort fee. Normally, the room is $205 on weekends I think (I didn't check).

Thank you for those answers! I won't be seeing that renewal notice until July then. Have not yet decided on hotels, but those Paradise Pier prices don't look to shabby Mary Jo. I am guess GCH would be around 140-160 on the weekends given that PPH is 119. I'll probably call just to see if they can quote me prices. And considering it is the 50th, it will be hit or miss on the hotel prices.

thanks again. once more proving that DIS members Rock!
