A few weeks back, I posted a question about needing to go to Guest Relations (and wait on that hellacious line) to get the physical AP when renewing over the phone. The CM at the time told me that the only reason we would need to get the actual, physical annual pass is if we needed it for discounts for food and shopping, parking, etc. For park entry, it wasn't needed, since the tickets were now on the magic bands. Between the boards and this CM, I got differing info. In case anyone else wanted to know, this is the reply I got in writing from Member Services:

Hello Kxyz,

Thank you for contacting Walt Disney World Ticketing.

While most of your Annual Pass benefits can be accessed through your MagicBand, we encourage guests to obtain their standard green Annual Pass RF card. The green RF card is used to validate certain Walt Disney World Annual PassHolder benefits such as complimentary parking and discounts on food and merchandise at select locations.

Should you have additional questions, please contact us again by replying to this message or calling 407-566-4985 option 5. Our office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. seven (7) days a week.

Sincerely,

Clement

Since we'll be testing this out next week, I'll post back and let you know if we actually got into the park without hitting up Guest Relations first!

I'll be interested to hear because they need to verify DVC membership and addresses of adults. Otherwise you could buy a DVC AP and hand it off to anyone, who would just walk through the gate with it.

We're staying onsite, and they check your IDs when checking in. They then confirm identities with Magic Bands. Now, how the park entry thing works when NOT staying onsite, I don't know how this would work. But yes...we'll find out!!!

DH was glad that he'd had taken the time to get the physical AP. That's because when he got to the gate his MB didn't work. So not only did he scan his MB to get into the park, he also had to show his AP card, DVC card, and driver's liscence. Ah, yes-Disney IT at work!

We had purchased the DVC PAP's last year over the phone. Used the confirmation number to link them to our MBs on-line. Worked great for park entry. Only needed to go to ticket booth to get the ticket for discounts.

We were ready to get in the awful line at Guest Relations at EPCOT and a cast member said we could go to any ticket booth to get the ticket. Went to one with no line and we were done on 10 minutes .

We just renewed our APs this October that were due to expire on November 25 at GR in Epcot. We got our receipt for the charge but nothing else. I asked about a hard ticket and was told the tix are linked to the magic bands and that when we get home wait until November 25 to order MBs related to the renewed APs and when mailed the discount cards for parking/merchandise would be sent with the MBs. We followed the instructions and that is exactly what happened.
