Is it the same price to renew an AP as it is to buy a new AP?

And you have about 30 days to renew at the same price, although it's retroactively effective to the day your prior pass expired.

Here are the three levels of renewal....

Power Pass - $134.99 plus tax

Preferred Pass - $159.99 plus tax

Premier Pass - $289.99 plus tax

If you purchased the passes new it would cost you...

Power Pass - $189.00 plus tax

Preferred Pass - $259.99 plus tax

Premier Pass - $399.99 plus tax

The new pass prices are for non-FL residents.

If you get a power pass this year but want the preferred pass next year, do you have to "start over" as a new pass or can you get a break?

i renewed my preferred AP for $170.39 last month

I was just going to post that.:rotfl: My AP doesn't expire until May 7th, but I got an email from them two weeks ago telling me it was time to renew for $159.99 plus tax and that is was a savings of up to $65.00. They always send out that email each year about a month before the AP expires.

Got an email too. Mine expire end of May.

Hmmm....I've never received an expiring email and our family has three of them. I get the AP newsletter.

I just checked and I got the email on Sunday. I also have 3 AP's and the primary for all three. This is the first time I received an email. Normally I will get a flyer in the mail. The email just has he expiration date and a link to the AP website to renew.

i received the ap mailer at my house from UO 3 days after i renewed my AP.

You can renew 30 days before the expiration date.

I have never gotten one either.. I have had them since 1999.. well, actually skipped one year of renewals.. so 1999, but minus one year :rotfl: (I took of one year and did only Disney, then took off one year of Disney and did only Universal...then went back to both again...)

I bought my first Preferred pass in October 2003 for $185 but it was for 2 years (buy 1 year get 1 free, some kind of Coke promotion I think). Since then my renewals were:
2005 - $110
2006 - $110
2007 - $110
2008 - $120
2009 - $120
2010 - $160
2011 - $170

I wonder what happened in 2010? Oh, WWoHP happened!
Renewals were about 50% to 55% of the new pass cost. Now it is 60% to 65% but the regular price has also doubled since 2005. However, it's still a good deal considering all the concerts and holiday events besides the regular park attractions.

::yes:: yep that sure is what happened.. we dedicated annual pass holders are paying for the construction loans :rotfl2: also, isn't that the time frame when NBC started to sell some of it's shares off too? Disney took over Marvel when?????? .... Dec 30, 2009... so I also think that is to cover some royalties maybe?? :lmao: :rotfl2:

Looks like we will miss Despicable Me by 1-2 weeks, so I wonder if I can talk DH into renewing???

Rather than start a new thread.
As above.

We have had Premier Passes now for a couple of years but I cannot justify the huge cost anymore because basically last year the only benefits we actually used was a couple of free waters, the valet and the express a couple of times but not every time because we like to visit in the morning.

I am in a quandry.
Do I renew one Premier AP to keep the perks and then do say a power pass for the other saving a heafty chunk of change? Or do I just drop us both to preffered? I would like to keep the valet which is really useful and I guess would be worth the $110 diff over the year.

But if I drop one down to Power pass can I move back up at the renewal price if I change my mind again next year or do I have to buy at full price?

Also does anyone know when the 2013 block out dates will come out?

I think you should "go down" to the Preferred APs. You would still get most of the benefits you have with the Premier but you'd save a lot of money on the renewals. I'm not sure when the blackout dates for next year will be out but you can pretty much assume they will be during the busiest times plus IOA for the whole summer.

Thanks for jumping in Metro! :)

Thing is judging by this years black out dates we would be fine with that.
We aren't local so I know the dates we will be in town and the only time that clashes with the black outs is around the Christmas holidays and quite honestly I am not bothered about being blacked out at that time.

I'm almost thinking about dropping to two power passes and with all that money we save paying for valet wouldn't really be an issue.

If we decided to upgrade next year though to say two Preffered passes, would we still get the renewal rate for the higher pass?
