AP rates?

Now that the summer GP promo has been released, does anyone have any prediction on when AP rates might be released?

I think the AP rates will be released early April based upon Mousesavers historical data. However, if you can pay in full for your room now, the Orbitz 20% deal is way better than anything I was expecting with AP rates (which I'm expecting only an additional 5-7% discount), so I booked under that.

Why wait for the AP rates? They may not be any better than the GP rates. For our last trip in January, I booked at the GP rate when it came out, and the AP rate wasn't any better when it did come out. I can also book the Florida Residents rates, and even those weren't any better than the GP.

If you book now and the AP rate is better and available for the accommodations you want, you can always have it applied at that time.

Good point, I only need 2 nights to tack onto the end of a DVC rental so I guess it's silly to wait.

20%? That's awesome, I thought it was only 15%. I'll definitely check it out.

I am booked and paid in full for a room only reservation under the GP discount. I plan to get an AP, can I request the AP discount when I check in? There is a slight chance I will not get the AP so I didn't want to book under the pretense I had it and then be stuck paying going rate.

The AP rates work similar to the GP rate - they are on sale for a future time period. Sometimes there is overlap, or a new offer is announced. If the rate is still on offer, and still available when you check in and have your AP then they can give it to you.

Are you asking about May (from your ticker?) If so, the May AP rates are out, and you can call and see if they're available under your dates and for your type of room, and if they're better than the GP rate (sometimes they are not--there are blackout dates and room categories that are not available). If they are and you want to adjust your reservation, you can buy your AP and then have the agent adjust the rate.

I wouldn't wait until you check in.

I am not sure if the Orbitz 20% off covers your dates or your hotel, but right now, that's the absolute best discount out there, and it's better than any AP rates. It would require canceling and rebooking of your reservation, however.

I will be upgrading from a 2-day ticket to the AP, so unfortunately I can't do it until I get down there.

I wouldn 't wait til check in either - I'm not sure the Front Desk staff can change to an AP room rate. You may actually have to call reservations while there yourself & have it changed, before checking in. There is a 5-day cancellation policy for room only, not sure if this applies to changes in rate or not.

We were in a similar situation once & the Front Desk staff was unable to make any changes to the rate, they said it had to be done ourselves, prior to check-in.

And as a prior poster said, the AP rate offer may have expired by your day of check-in, then you couldn't apply it. If it's still an active discount, your room type also may not be included in the discount, or not be a better rate anyway!

I predict the summer AP discounts will be out mid-April.
