I agree that it does seem strange about the CMs asking about ticket purchases when you have APs. I could very well be wrong, but was basing the idea of AP computer information on my family's experiences as well as that of some other folks posting. For example, the first time I was making a reservation using an AP rate I was going to pick up the AP once we arrived -- the CM at CRO who was making the reservation made some statement about my not having an AP in my name (I had not told her I hadn't picked it up yet). On another trip when checking in myself and 2 kids, the CM said something like "You won't need any tickets since you all three have annual passes." (Again, I had not said anything about it to that person.) Also, on another trip when my husband (at that time not an AP holder) was checking in on AP rate with our 5 year-old daughter (ap holder), the CM specifically asked to see her card. (Now on that trip I had called about 3 different times in the planning stage to make sure that her AP was okay for the room discount. I had read so many conflicting posts regarding the issue that I felt the need to check and double check, so maybe someone had made a note on the reservation.) I don't really know, but it seems unlikely that Disney would offer discounts as much as 40-45% and be "so careless" about the verification of whether it was legitimate (spelling?) unless they had some way of cross-checking.
