AP rates out through Oct. 2!

....I don't want to buy a pass and then not be able to use it for a discount as that would be the reason for buying it as we probably wont be back within the year.

Also to ad don to what Mrs D noted above... the AP's aren't worth it solely for the room discounts. Lately they seem to be running just a smidge better than the GP/pin rates, so I would work to get a pin vs. counting on the AP rate.

For instance our Poly CL GV room we booked with a 40% off pin months back. No stress, plan accordingly. AP rates just came out that cover our dates and were a whopping 42%, so we saved 70 bucks over our pin rate... money saved is money saved, but would I have purchased an AP to save that? No. The fact we'll go 3x on this years worth of APs makes it worth having them. :thumbsup2

Can someone advise me please re the APH? I have reservations already made at Contemporary and Yacht Club for Oct 28 and 29 and Nov 13-16/2010.
I don't have an APH and was wondering the following:

If APH rates come out for those dates can these reservations be switched to the APH rate?
As long as they have inventory at the those resorts for the AP rate then YES you can just change the ressie to the AP rate code.

Do I have to have the pass when I call reservations or can I buy it just before I go? You can check in, then go to the park or DTD to purchase your AP - you will need to show the AP to the front desk with in a day or so of checking in or else the price reverts to rack rate.

HTH! :wizard:

Thanks to both of you! Okay, so to make sure I got it right...I can call if/when AP rates become available and switch my rate and then buy the APH ......

I understand pin codes would be better and I wouldn't need to buy a pass but the odds of me getting a PIn code :rotfl::rotfl:....

I guess I want to make sure if APH discounts come out I don't have to scramble to get an APH first....

Thanks!

AP rates will be probably slightly better than PIN codes anyway. I would be very surprised if they didn't come out with AP rates for Oct/Nov.

Make sure when those rates DO come out that you call as quickly as possible to have your rate adjusted (before the AP quota at your resorts fill up).

I've booked plenty of time at an AP rate without having a valid AP in hand and I just purchase one as soon as we get to WDW. I've never had a problem and in fact, on most occassions they didn't even ask to see the AP.

Thankyou so much for info.....we have a give a day, get a day pass so would like to use it towards an APH so this will work for us.....:goodvibes

Well I made a reservation for the first time through Travelocity because their rates and available room types were WAY better than what Disney is offering for AP rate.

That seems strange to me.

But whatever...going for my birthday!! party:

Yaaay! Glad you got to take advantage of some of those incredible rates. I know you won't be sorry.

I agree, it does seem strange not booking a resort room through Disney, but seriously, some of those deals are saving between $40 and $100 a night!
If it were only a different of $15 to $20, I might stick with booking through Disney, but the savings are significant.

Hope you have a great birthday vacation!

(we are going down for DH's birthday) :)

Just switched our rate from GP 40% to AP 42%. CM was wonderful and said it was easy to do. It only saved $9 a night, but x7 over two rooms, made it worth it to make the call.

So glad to hear that you did this. I am hoping to do this for our October trip!

Ugh! So frustrated waiting for AP rates for the rest of Oct!

I got a new passholder email yesterday and it had a sidebar that said
"Pssst passholders see these room discounts first" (or something like that)
and I was all excited, but then I saw that they are the same rates through Oct 2nd that have been offered for a while. :headache:

Meanwhile free dining (which doesn't usually work out so great for AP's) is offered through Dec! Please wdw, give the AP's some Oct/Nov/Dec rates soon!!

Saturday arrivals don't count for the discount, I guess. I will save $18 more with the 20% PIN than the AP rate at Pop. If we stayed Fri and Sat instead of Sat and Sun, we would save more with the AP.

And it's frustrating that Sept/Oct GP discounts had been out long before the AP rate was released. And the inventory for AP rooms was terrible.

I am too hoping that the AP for the rest of Oct is released soon. And preferably before any GP discounts.

If history means anything, the AP rates for december should be out next week and I'll be booking my Christmas trip.:santa:

I really don't think it is right for WDW to send out random pins and GP codes before announcing the AP rates. For those of us that have been going a long time, it is becoming increasingly frustrating to play the discount games - almost to the point of not being worth it. $420.00 a night for a room at the BWI, wow.

Anyway, since I am blacked out for FDP and have not received a pin despite my efforts on the WDW site registration, I am thinking about getting an AP for the discount. I ran the numbers and it would be worth it for us. Plus if I get the TIW card the 20% discount will pay for itself.

My question is will all nights be discounted? For example, the RR room price for nights that I am going range from $390 to $420 to $340. Will any of those nights be blocked from receiving the AP discount? Also, will I be able to use the discount for 2 rooms?

Thanks!

Me too. Both my Oct and Dec trips fell within the black out periods for free dining (Oct 9th-17th and Dec 4th-12th). Thankfully I had already booked my current reservations under the 35% off bounceback deal that was offered when I was there last Dec, so I already have them paid for. I'd sure like to switch them to an AP discount though, so I could get a refund for those one day park tickets I don't need.

I feel for ya! DH and I have a long weekend planned in mid-October for his birthday and not only are our dates blacked out for FD (not that it would help us anyways this trip) but there are no other discounts available. At least you got the AP email, neither DH or I have received it :headache:

It is only as good a deal if you actually are lucky enough to get a pin code. For us that don't have them, AP is still better than rack.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I've set aside two sets of dates for this trip & made dining reservations (which I will cancel immediately when I make my room reservation) already so now it's just a question of which dates depending on what the AP rates cover.

Until the rates come out for the time that you're looking for, you can't be sure that all nights will be discounted. AP rates are not like free dining, they don't count for your whole trip just b/c you book one of the days within the AP rate time.

Also, not every resort is usually covered with AP rates. Sometimes they do "select resorts" so yours may or may not be covered.

Yes you can use an AP discount for 2 rooms, but all of the people in the rooms have to be on the same "package." Meaning that if you choose to do AP + dining, everyone in your reservation has to do the same - *they don't have to have AP's, but they have to have dining, they would buy park tickets separately.

And you cannot combine AP discounts with any other discount (like free dining)

Best of luck getting your resort & dates for AP rates :goodvibes

The AP email didn't have anything in it that the AP website doesn't already have on it. Those emails are hit and miss  sometimes we get them but usually I just check the AP site periodically to look for discounts and special AP experiences.

Thanks for the info Beauty and the Best! Good Luck to all!
